Yea I was wondering about that. What you just said confirms what a good friend of mine just told me. He isn't a calibrator but worked on Raptor for a while. He didn't think start stop would affect it, because he said he was pretty sure the PCM remembers the position of the pistons during a...
I wouldn't say just because they didn't to the recall the phasers failed, there is too many moving parts to say that. However, if they didn't do it in time for the extended coverage, thats an issue, but a moot point at this time as no one has extended coverage unless you have an ESP or other...
This must be an older bulletin linked, I just pulled mine out of my file, Feb 28, 2022 was the end date for having to get the 21B10 to get extended coverage on my mailer from Oct 21.
When did your phaser noise start? 21B10 was software to "stop the bleeding" so to say and hopefully extend the service life of the phasers. If you had the noise, new hardware is needed. You can only solve so much with software if the hardware doesn't meet long term durability life. This was...
Yea luckily there was no fight becuase it failed under his ESP. However, they saw the RTV issues once it was torn down. If he didnt have ESP that was going to cover it, it may have been a fight with the dealer because this was probably a year or more after the oil pan was done. It just took...
RTV is the bain of many peoples existence, had a friend lock up a motor just under 100k that was taken care of by his ESP. Most Likely cause, the oil pan work he had done a while back because they found RTV in the oil intake as cause of failure.
This thread makes my heart happy. I hope to get high miles out of my Gen 2, but I have a feeling the body may outlast the powertrain, reverse of the Gen 1.
There is no way 97 percent of trucks don't have cam phaser issues. Every single 17 or 18 3.5 that I have in my friends network (from raptors to lariats driven by my dads older friends) has had rattle. So had mine and its meticulously maintained.
As stated the new aluminum bodies are no joke. I've also seen paint rubbed off down to bare aluminum on the body with Michigan winter exposure on a friends truck and 0 corrision to bare aluminum. These are not the crap aluminum hoods that ford has had problems with over the years in other...
I have the Rigids in the bumper like you and I did a Baja designs behind the grill for the exact reason to be hid a bit more. Use mine all the time on back roads in the dark.
