I'm needing to do something to keep the front tires from kicking mud and crap into my rear wheels and brakes. Already replaced rotors and pads last winter, don't want to do it again. I am thinking of mid-ship full width flaps like short course off road trucks, but they look rather stupid on a...
Is the driveshaft okay? It looks like it is scored from the left muffler pretty good. Personally, I'd be concerned with it being aluminium.
Yeah, it's bent and dinged, but if you found the right shop to custom build the tranny c-member and plate up weak (bent) spots, I bet you'd save some...
I did this a year ago, they have held up perfectly. They "wave" at highway speeds and sometimes people think something is loose and flag me down.
This is my before and after.
One plastic clip per side. Would be much easier if they were metal. Be careful, all the exposed steel is stamp "cut" and has sharp edges. I couldn't wear gloves because I could not feel where the slots were to push the clips.
To get to and push the clips, go between the cushions above the...
I got my 6.2 in April when the temps were still below freezing, it started smooth and quiet. When the temperature got warm, it was a cage of pissed off monkeys on cold startup. Now that it's cold again, smooth starting. I changed the oil at 7000 miles in July with Mobil1, it started rough before...
If I keep the rear tires from going faster than the front, mileage is much better.
For anyone with a physics degree or experience;
Does the bed cover really help on these trucks with the short short bed? Does the airflow actually create a large enough low pressure area to matter?
Even with Advance Trac push/held, off road mode on (or not), in 2hi and 4hi my truck still pulls back power on long four wheel drifts. Not as bad as with 1push of A. T., but it still does not let me have total old fashioned control.
Trailer sway control will also pull back power if fishtailing...
If your into using a Steely Dan, don't forget to use lube;
It might keep mud from clogging the dimples.
Naked Lunch could be the site mascot book for the banned.
A couple other ideas are, if the slash shields are in one piece, coat with bed liner material to absorb rock strikes better or to fasten urethane sheeting (like rally car mod flaps) to the splash shields. I just don't want to drop nearly $600 for two more stockers that will probably break...
My first broke within three days of bringing it home, the second a week later. Duct tape worked for a while til more rock strikes ate away at the plastic. I never even bothered to check with Ford about warranty, I see these parts as consumables, like brake pads ,wipers and gas. My solution has...
