To start, I bought this truck used and 10k miles later the motor blew. Ended up getting a new motor, tranny, and torque converter installed through the extended warranty.
Its been about 10k miles now and on a long road trip in really high temps the tranny started jumping around in cruise...
Just some humor guys….it’s been a long journey from when this started on a New Years road trip.
As the person that went through it I understand more than anyone on a forum. And it was actually $17k…
Even with that being covered this endeavor still cost me almost $3k with the towing and rental.
Picked the truck up from the dealership today. During takedown the tech noticed something about the torque converter and decided it also needed to be replaced. Dealership called me to let me know they needed to call the adjuster back out to approve the $800 torque converter.
A couple days later...
It’s at the dealership and may have a new motor in it this Friday. Still not quite holding my breath at this point. I looked in to a handful of options and this one ended up making the most sense. From what I understand I have a pretty good extended warranty and I’m leaving that celebration...
No indication when it happened other than warnings going off on the dash. I had been driving for about 2 hours in crappy conditions and it had a bit to warm up in the morning. Didn’t notice any noises or anything dramatic. Looked at my gas mileage figuring I would notice something there if the...
Yea I’ll echo what GooseTuned said - this was just with a stage 1 Cobb tune after 1 week of running it.
Ive kind of moved past trying to figure out “why” at this point. I’ve only owNed the truck for 10k of the 70k miles. No telling what life it lived before me but it was definitely used like a...
Is this common? I cant find many stories on blown gen 2 motors.
Also, am I just screwed at this point because of the stage 1 tune? I find it hard to believe a week later that small of a tune could blow what’s supposed to be a high performance motor…….
Any advice on how to deal with the...
Dealer called today to say that the battery tested good. They are continuing the diagnostic check.
They tried starting the motor and it wouldn’t turn over with a good battery charge.
I hope not but I'm betting you spun a rod bearing . Starter performance fault code means it could not turn over engine. That's when engine died and would not restart . I'm sure it had a good charge and it lasted 7 hours till it went dead .
well that’s definitely more than just a battery...
That was my thought. They can’t look at it until tomorrow. That was why I tried going the route of just replacing the battery today myself to check.
I appreciate it and if the timing worked out better I would’ve said yes. Might as well wait till tomorrow at this point since it’s already at the...
Good to know but unfortunately a little late for this go round. At least you understand why I’m trying to understand all of this in parallel with the dealership. Taking it to Denver isn’t really an option at this point. If I wasn’t moving to SLC this year I’d be more unhappy about driving 1.5...
I was a little limited on my options to figure out at the moment. I was in a winter storm on a mountain pass with no service. Only way I was able to make a call was someone stopped with a sat phone then had to leave. The battery is definitely dead as a door nail now after sitting in my truck for...
This is before looking at the truck. I was trying to avoid a diagnosis if I could just put a battery in it myself. My tow bill was $1700 so trying to save anything I can….
I was just curious if FordTechs explanation would cause it to shut off while driving even with alternator supplying power.
Just wanted to confirm - if I lost a cell it could cause it to die while driving? The tech is claiming it should keep running on the alternator. I tried just getting a battery from them to install myself but they are pushing back that its definitely not the battery with it shutting off while...
I hope this is it. Sounds the most affordable. It’s a little concerning that just losing the battery with no low battery warnings or anything else causes you to lose power at speed. It was fun getting it stopped in white out conditions on a mountain road going downhill.
I reset the ECM through the access port but I’m not sure if that sends it back to stock. The battery is now completely dead after waiting 7 hours for a tow truck and trying to stay warm and charge my phone. It’s on a tow truck headed to the dealership in the morning.
Driving back from snowboarding today in bad weather I lost the motor with a bunch of warning lights going off.
2018 with 70k miles. I was in “Weather” driving mode 4A. Warnings started going off with “auto start/stop failure” or something and saying shift to park to restart. Brake warnings and...
Well I took the plunge. Been eyeing a raptor for awhile now and this one sold me. I’m in the mountains a lot hunting/camping/exploring and this thing handles it great so far. Coming from the F250 below I was a little worried downsizing but the Raptor suits my needs much better. Loved the 250 to...
