I tend to agree with old raptor guy, it seems like the video has 3 types of damage described. And at the end of the day these trucks are being pushed hard AF.
Weak points will be found.
For those that where there, what kind of prep is done to these trucks and how hard do you drive the vehicles?
Okay, to be fair, by max uptravel I really mean for max up travel for stock frame. I have a few limiters that I plan to adhere to, 1. I do not want to do glass fenders.
I want stock width. F/R
2. I want to use the spring over set up because I tow a trailer to the desert. At this point I have...
Yeah that may be a good check. I am starting to wonder...
Is there any difference between 1g and 2g upper or lower control arms? As far as geometry goes?
I'll be checking ✔
My shocks are 17.25" shaft travel also, I am building this with max uptravel as the goal I'm not as concerned about droop but hope to be able to use the entire shock. The shock is going to be mounted in a more vertical position when compared the original design of this...
Looking at your pictures, the coils will probably contact the upper control arm. It looks like the OD is a bit larger than the springs I'm using. You'll just need to check. Also I will be changing my upper to a 1.5" outter, the 1"uniball will not cycle through all the droop. I have a few mods on...
Get these axles if you are doing the bucket. They are seriously cheep. 130.00 bucks each no raptor tax. So if you are doing a prep they will be affordable to change.
The stock CVs have a max useable angle of about 29 degrees they can go more but not if rotating. In full I didn't measure the...
Quick update.
I have my rev2 lower shock mount back from Lazer.
These are moving the lower shock mount much further down and also forward. This is going to reduce the motion ratio and speed up the shocks, at the cost of overall travel. But the increase is shock speed will help with tuning the...
I found Apollo Optics through this web site, they had the Morimoto XB Tail lights in stock and for sale for only 400.00.
They gave me free shipping and I received them in 4 days after my order was placed.
Excellent Experience.
A+ WOULD RECOMMEND!
Hey guys didn't see much info on this but I cycled out some of the trakkmotive high angle CV axles and they work fine for my application on stock width 13.625" travel. I wish I put more time on them before giving them a review, they have about 1000miles. And only 70 offroad. So far.
Like I...
You can use a pick and pop out the rubber stopper, it's has a small caseing that can be unscrewed from the oem shock with an Allen key. Replace with a valve that is threadmatched to shock like the ones sold on RPG/SVC/ex
Right, I am not saying the noise is normal, I am saying one cause of such a noise could be the above reasons. Also if the pressure is low the end cap can get sucked off the snap ring under vacuum as the piston moves with the shock shaft and snap back causing noises like described.
Edit to add...
So this may not be what you are experiencing, but occasionally when either:
1. There is not enough oil in the shock, the front of floating piston will slam into the resivor on extension
Or
2. If there is not enough air in the resivor the back of the piston will fully compress and slam on the...
Gotca, I was thinking more about the corrosion. Those will start to rust the first time they get wet is all, you may want to consider painting them or something.
The axle will be 2 3/4" higher at bump, metal to metal when compared to the truck with stock shocks at full bump.
The bump stop kit I removed was an older ready off road kit, very good quality the welds are beautiful compared to the rpg bypass rack I have. But, that kit had oem geometry and...
Got cross bar "fixed"
Tried to smash it with a hammer, then used my press but ended up just cutting out the damaged section and putting in a patch.
I need to finish up in the rear before I can move the truck in to welding range do do the bracket repair.
