Seat Belt - What's the Ford Part # (I want to turn chime off)

I know there's a procedure where you turn the ignition on without starting and then you insert/remove the male seat belt part in/out 3 times, wait, then one more time... its supposed to turn the seat belt chime off.

Too much effort!

All I want is another spare seat belt, male part, that I can stick into the buckle when I don't want to wear my seat belt (like when riding on my rural property at slow speeds... )

I don't even know the proper term to look for...

There's also a company I found called Chimex or something that sells just the male inserts/plugs to dummy the chime off. But they don't make one for the F150.

Is there a plug under the seat that I can disconnect somewhere?

I couldn't get the beltminder to disable on my truck for some reason... and if you do follow the directions (its around page 188 in the owner's manual), is this a permanent deactivation until you reactivate it, or do you have to do this each time you start the truck up?>

I turned mine off using the instructions from the manual, because it was a pain when out wheeling. I sure wish I could pull the passenger side one - someday I'll find it.

I turned my drivers off following the owners manual. Its permanent. This is really the easiest and safest way to go imo, because the restraint system still knows if your buckled in or not so the air bag can deploy accordingly. If you want a dummy latch to plug into the buckle, buy the "belt extensions" they make for larger people. It will be the cheapest and easiest alternative to the procedure in the owners manual. Un plugging the belt electrical connector turns the belt light/reminder off, but turns the air bag light on.

I think its "off" now... re-reading the instructions, I forgot to depress the parking brake...

Now when I start it, I still get an initial chime and the red seat belt light... but it turns off and stays off now.

I tried this... Everything set to what the manual says... It didn't work on the drivers side. I did it twice cause I thought I messes up. Would that turn it back on? Maybe I turned it off and then back on.?

The same procedure re-activates the warning system, it sounds like thats what you did by accident.

Its easy,
the passenger side is exactly the same as driver side. Takes less than a minute and will be a much safer option than a fake seatbelt.

I got it finally... I forgot to depress the parking brake!

Just did mine. I slow cruise the job site a lot of the day in my truck and other superintendents are constantly hopping in and out of shotgun... The seatbelt chimes were driving me nuts! For those of you too lazy to open up the manual to page 181, here's how you disable the BeltMinder chime:

Before following procedure make sure that:
-parking brake is set
-gearshift is in park
-the ignition is in off position
-the driver and front passenger safety belts are unbuckled

1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (do NOT start the engine)

2. Wait until the safety belt warning light turns off (approximately one minute)

STEP 3 MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN 30 SECONDS AFTER SAFETY BELT WARNING LIGHT TURNS OFF

3. For the seating position being disabled, buckle then unbuckle the safety belt 3 times, ending in the unbuckled state

(after step 3, the restraint system warning light (airbag light) will be turned on for 3 seconds)

4. Within approximately 7 seconds of the light turning off, buckle then unbuckle the safety belt.

This will disable the BeltMinder feature for that seating position. As confirmation, the restraint system (seatbelt) warning light will flash 4 times per second for 3 seconds.

At this point, you're golden. Do the same thing on the other side and then your seatbelt-chime-woes are a thing of the past. The serenity of silence is well worth the short time this process takes.

You can re-enable the seatbelt chime at any time by repeating this process.

As stated above, this process is a better alternative to putting a dummy latchplate into the buckle to avoid the chime, because using a dummy latchplate may adversely affect your airbag system.
