When the TRX debuted is was only slightly more than a Raptor in fact I think a loaded Raptor was very close price was to a mid trim TRX. When I bought my 2018 801a Raptor for $60k I could’ve bought a TRX w/ nicer interior/more options for $79k

Now ram makes a TRX light w/ the RHO that has more power than a 3.5 Raptor & you can’t tune the gen3s so that argument/option to just tune & exceed the competitions power is irrelevant.

Ford tops Ram w/ the R for a short time but jacked the prices up allowing Ram to come back to market w/ a new V8 TRX that’s (presumably) going to be even crazier than the outgoing TRX or the R, while also offering (on paper) a more enticing package than the 3.5 Raptor in the RHO & undercuts the price substantially.

I wonder if Toyota will step up their TRD offerings & who knows…GM may grow a pair & stick that blown 6.2 into a ZR2(3?) Silverado….

I had a 2016 Challenger Hellcat narrow body with the pedestrian 707hp and one of the reasons I got rid of it was you couldn’t safely put the power to the ground from a dig. After 10,000 miles I decided it was fun in a straight line, but mostly after you hit 60mph (in Track mode it would still chirp the tires at 60mph).

I have a hunch the R is the same, trying to get the power down in 2wd has to be a bit of a challenge. That’s one of the reasons I like the TRX. It’s a point and shoot kind of setup. Anybody can safely drive the TRX.
You don’t know how to drive or choose tires, or both. I have modded C5Z that makes more power @ the wheels than hellcats do @ the crank…& it weighs about 1300 lbs less on top of that & still has the transverse leaf setup….so if you can’t put power down in a hellcat it’s the Indian not the arrow brother

Corvettes also have a better weight distribution and being that it is a modded C5Z pushing 800 ish HP at the wheels that means you aren’t running the factory rubber if i had to guess. If the tires can’t hook they can’t hook, it’s not really a skill issue. There is only so much you can do with a Michelin 275mm lol

Also depends on the types of road surfaces people have near them…some grip like hell and others are a skating rink even dry.

BTW I really want a C5Z….

I forgot they didn’t all have the widebody fenders in rear. That’d probably be the 1st mod for me im running 305s, you need like 335s w/ a hellcat, Mickey Thompson ET street SS or Nokian NT01s etc

Someone said something about a Toyota.. and that would be an interesting battle, because we know Chevy aint building anything to compete with the RAP or TRX. The new Tundra does look pretty dang good in white with that blacked out grill..

But Toyota is going to have to find some hips for it..

Has Toyota made a decent stock off road vehicle since the 1980s? I'm not aware of one. Sure you can beef the frame and replace the suspension, but that's a losing play on many levels.
