Outlaw Bump Stop Kit Install Write up w/ Pics

Here is a write-up for installing one of our Bump Stop kits. This kit is a simple install with basic hand tools and you don't need a lift, or remove the bed! :smile up:



And away we go:

Your first going to want to pull your Raptor onto a level ground and secure the parking brake. Then using the OE spare tire tool, lower the spare tire and set aside. Block the front tires and raise the rear of the vehicle. Support the frame with jack stands forward of the rear springs and Remove the rear wheels.





Now from underneath the truck, unplug (2) plastic push pin plugs holding the wiring harness and unbolt the brake line bracket located closest to the OE bump stops on the drivers frame. Let the wiring harness and brake lines hang.









Next, unbolt the exhaust from the OE hangers (total of 3 locations)from the tail pipe to the collector and let the exhaust hang.







TO install the Bump mount brackets you first need to remove the OE rubber bump stops and the mount from the frame rail (oe bump pulls off and one bolt holds the mount). Then slip the Bump Mount Bracket onto the frame. Use the supplied hardware to line up the bottom of bracket to the OE bump stop hole, but do not tighten just yet. Install the Nut Retainer Plate inside frame rail by lining it up with the bottom holes of the Bump Stop Bracket. Install supplied hardware but again, do not tighten. Now remove the bottom bolt out of the Bump Mount Bracket that attaches to the OE bump mount so you can install the backing plate.

Install the Backing Plate to the backside of the frame rail and secure though the top holes of Bump Mount Bracket. Again, do not tighten hardware. The Backing Plate will overlap the Bump Mount Bracket near the OE bump stop mounting hole. Install and tighten the bottom bolt of the Bump Mount Bracket & Backing Plate. Tighten the Nut Retainer Plate bolts. Tighten the Bump Mount Bracket to the Backing Plate.









Now you can install Fox 2.0 Bump Stop into the bump can mount by sliding the bump stop from the bottom to top. Push up until Fox Bump Stop bottoms out on the machined lip. Tighten bump can mounting bolts. Then simply repeat steps for passenger side.









Once the other side is complete, install the Cross Brace by lining the heims in between the driver and passenger Backing Plates Cross Brace mounts. Adjust hems to pre-load the frame (key feature) and secure the Cross Brace and heim jam nuts. (Brake lines & wire harness will go below the Cross Brace)







Now reattach the brake line mount and secure the wire harness and install the OE spare wheel & tire.

Support the rear axle with a floor jack and remove the U-bolts on the driver side. Loosen the U-bolts on the passenger side.





Separate the factory block from the spring assembly and insert Bump Pad onto the axle pad, making sure the pins are fitted into the holes on the spring perch. Use your floor jack to raise the axle to the spring making sure the tabs on the spring block fit into the holes on the Bump Pad. Install the Bump Pad Retainer under the OE u-bolt retainer and secure the u-bolt assembly. Do not tighten the u-bolts at this time.





Install hardware into Bump Pad (closest to hub) to secure bottom Bump Pad Retainer. Repeat the installation on the other side of the vehicle. When the installation of the remaining side is complete, torque the u-bolts to 105 ft. lbs.
Reinstall the wheels and tires and lower the vehicle to the ground.









Finally make sure all bolts are tight, exhaust hangers are bolted back up and secured, and electrical connections are properly seated. Take your Raptor for a spin!

We recommend a re-torque after 1000 miles to insure everything was installed tightened correctly.
