I just installed Recon projectors in the truck. They look killer but I have a few questions for those with Recons or the similar ones.

Do any of the other brands offer a real projector ? By this I mean is there a sharp cut off line ? Little disappointed to find out the Recons do not. Its pretty much just two round blobs of light that shoot out for the lows. To swap out the projectors for some real ones I would have to open the housing, which is a major PITA.

Also the led's and ccfl's are very dim, the ccfl's are not even visible during the day. I have a solid 12v at the lights. Any one else experienced this ? From all the pics Ive seen they always look really bright.

They are great looking lights but for $400 I would expect a lot more. Here's what they look like with led and ccfl on.

I looked at those but decided on VisionX 4.5`LEDs mounted in the crossframe shooting out the bumper cutouts. I got a killer deal on them from National 4wd and they definately outperform the stock headlights.

They definitely look better in the evening.

Throwing HID's in these projectors will just be a waste of time, thinking of a retro fit with a FX-R 2.0 or Morimoto Mini, depending on what fits. Anyone have experience with retrofits ?

This is what the Morimoto cut off looks like.

mine work awesome, might have the non ccfl rings in yours. i will take pics tomorrow if no one else posts up.

So Voodoo, yours actually have a cutoff line ? where did you order from ?

Its a little ridiculous recon charges so much money for these and the projector is just a lens in front of a chrome reflector. Ill take a pic of them on a wall tonight so you can see what I mean.

i have some custom retrofits due to be completed in next week. i went with a company called sick hids. prices for a 55 watt digital bi-xenon projectors set up , new shrouds, ccfls halos for the shrouds and or projectors is $25 more than what you paid for the recons, they also have a lifetime warranty. i wound up buying a new set of stock lights for them to use so i could still drive around. the downside is they are close to an 8 week wait .... will post pics when they are shipped ,then installed

Cool, do you know what projectors they are installing ?

Doing a retro on the recons shouldn't be too difficult because they are already set up for projectors, the tricky part is opening the headlights.

Recon should be ashamed of themselves for offering such crap components for such a high price. The led's are a joke, I just replaced them with some real ones from retrosolutions, much brighter. The ccfl's are not real, its just a glass tube with a led lighting it. The projectors have no cut off shield and since I unpacked them they will not accept a return, lol. I did get $80 off by using the discount code but still, I will never buy a recon product again.

Since Im stuck with them Im cracking them open next weekend and correcting Recons flawed work. Ill write it up for anyone interested in a retrofit.

mine have a clear cutoff line just like whats in the picture posted above. when i first installed mine my cutoff was so low it could not be seen when sitting in the truck and was driving off the cutoff for signs.

it took me over a week to get them adjusted just where i wanted them but are great now.

when looking into the projector lens during the day do you see a silver bar going across?? mine has the cutoff bar with WWWWWWW and shape above it for lighting up road signs and the bottom ___________??? it is made like that for not blinding oncoming traffic.
