Just want to correct my post from above and great news!!!! Well before I used the old set of instructions and the lights didnt work properly. Now when driving the white lights are always on and when you hit the brakes the red ones come on and it looks great!!!!!! Had to tinker with the wires but came up with a way that worked! Now they work properly!

DO NOT FOLLOW THE GIVEN RECON INSTRUCTIONS

Wire as follows:

Truck Black and Red to Red Recon
Truck Black w/ White stripe to Recon white
Truck White to Recon Black

This works and gives the results I stated above! MUCH BETTER!!!! Resealed with silicon and good to go. With these results: I love the recon 3rd brake light!

am i understanding this correctly? u have the white cargo lights on steady, while driving, parked, breaking, not breaking?

im asking cause im pretty sure this wouldnt be legal in a state like NJ. not like much by way of vehicle coolness is but yeah having white lights shinning rearward is definitly a ticket to getting a ticket... :emotions122:

Having the white LEDs on all the time would definitely be illegal here in Cali, too... I just wired this up last night and it's incredibly simple.

My 2012 had 4 wires coming out of the truck. Black, White, Red, and Black with white stripe. The Recon only has Red, White, and Black wires. Just reverse the black and white wires to each other.

So... Black truck wire to Recon white wire, White truck wire to Recon black wire. Red to red. The truck's black with white stripe is not used. Cargo lights come on with door opening and unlocking with key fob, but fade off like stock. Brake lights are, well, brake lights.

You lose the 3 red LED dots that the stock unit has, and imo it looks much better that way anyways. The LEDs are nice and bright, the cargo lights not quite as bright as stock but more than adequate to get the job done if it was the only light you had at night.
