Custom bed rail mounts for rigid duallys!

Well spent the morning making my custom brackets for my bed rails. In Gunnar mounting my extra set of amber duallys on them. Still in the process of wiring ten to my existing ambers in my bumper. And yes I've been taking pics along the way I'll have a write up done shortly once I get them all finished!

ok to start off this little write up... i went to lowe's and picked up a bracket about 6' long, it was flat when i started so i bent it into shape which was easy all i did was use a butane torch to heat it up then used a vise to bend them.


so after a few coats of paint i started taking the bed rails off pretty easy step there ... and man was there a ton of dirt under them too haha.next i lined up the brackets to the spot i wanted them in. then laid down a piece of painters tape to mark the holes to drill.


after i drilled the holes i attached the bracket with some hardware and self locking nuts with lock washers.



once the brackets were on then it was time to put the lights and and make sure they were lined up with the bed rails as best i could haha at least the brackets were straight in line with the bed rails!




next came the real fun! wiring these puppies up.. since i already had a pair of duallys in the rear ADD bumper i was gonna run the wires and tie into the wire harness for these.. now each pair of duallys only pulls 5 amps and since my rear lights were on the #3 aux switch that has the 15amp fuse i was safe to put another set of duallys on that switch and still have 5 amps left over ( math: 2 duallys= 5amps so 4 duallys=10 amps)


i ran the wires down the inside the bed in one of the holes so it doesnt get pinched between the bed and cab!



next i ran it along the bottom side of the bed, between the bed and the frame.then to the driver side of the bed where i had my other lights ran up to the engine bay.




after a quick splicing into the wire harness i was done with wiring them up and i lined up the bed caps and marked where i needed to cut the cap with my dremal.



now here is some ****** day time pics ill post up some night shots in about an hour or so when it gets dark!

thanks greg! yea something like this is real easy just wish i had a welder to make the mounts instead of bending them they're not as rigid as i'd like they bounce a little bit when you hit bigger bumps but oh well its good enough for me haha you should do it its nice having some lights a little higher and spread out like that so now they can see how wide the truck is in the dust

thanks fellas! once i get off my ass i'm going to get some plastic wire tubing to put over the new wires i ran for the lights so its not just bare wires exposed.

Good, that way it doesn't look like a hack job.. Lol

haha thanks greg you always know how to make a man feel special lol yea i ran it through the tubes along the other side i just need a piece for the part that goes across the bottom of the bed to the other side. hey greg you're an electrician right you should have miles of this shit layin around haha i need about 2 feet of it!

Only them low voltage electricians use that kind stuff.. I was just giving you hell.. If you saw some of wiring on my truck you would laugh..
