So, I'm sorry to report that my trip to the local sand dunes ended up with some carnage. I believe I broke my driver side CV at the wheel.
I was heading up a steep sand hill I've been up a million times and there was a sudden loud ping/snap and I lost momentum, 4 wheel drive was toast, and there was a nasty grinding sound. I shut it down and knew I was hosed. The picture doesn't look terrible, but it's obvious something in there is broken. I had to winch myself out with my brand new 12,000 pound winch (which worked great) and was able to limp home in 2 wheel drive. This was about half way through my trip, so naturally I was pretty bummed. I still had my Jeep and a quad up there so I made the most of it, but it still sucks. I dropped the Raptor off at the dealership yesterday and warranty should have no problem covering it.

Still, I lost out on a LOT of fun Raptor time. :emotions122:

Here's a picture of the canage, then some Jeep fun. Also, here is the video of where I broke the CV. This isn't video of it breaking, but it broke on the first hill in this video later that evening. I was doing nothing different.

Ouch. Sorry to hear that, Dane. Looks bound up good. You take it to Tim at Go Courtesy Ford? He's warrantied everything I've taken to him and I didn't buy the vehicle there. Good guys there.

Took it way up north to the dealership my buddy works at. It's a haul out of the way, but no problems on warranty and they are going to do perch mod at the same time along with a guarantee it won't mess with my warranty.

How many miles on the raptor before breaking?.....NICE JEEP......I been in debate about Purchasing a jeep. Another something to toy around with when camping out for the weekend.

I am sure that 1st hill is a lot steeper in person then what the video conveys.

Absolutely. Video never does it justice, but it's actually pretty tough to make it up that first side.

Well, all fixed under warranty and perch adjusted to middle. Seems good as new. They replaced the whole half-shaft, no questions asked.

Middle perch definitely feels different, though it's hard to say how. Maybe it's just because I've been driving my Jeep in the interim, but I don't think so. I'm eager to see how it is off-road.
