There was an adjustment recommended earlier in the thread if you plan on running 87 a lot.

Ok, so I've been driving with this tune for a few days and feel like opining.

I like it.

I'm not an expert or a racer or a mechanic, so my perspective is from a newb user. So keep that in mind. I'm not entirely sure how tunes work, although I've learned a lot reading here. So these are my subjective observations which could be completely off base, but alas, it's what I think about this tune.

It behaves like a toned down version of the 5Star 93 Performance tune. Meaning it's not as jumpy or aggressive in "normal" driving. The engine sounds the same, meaning more aggressive than stock. I can tell by the exhaust note and by the engine feeling more "grunt". The shifting though is silky smooth, unlike the 93 Perf tune. In that regard it behaved more like the 93 Economy tune. But the difference was that when I stepped on it, it reacted quickly and aggressively, yet the shifts were still smooth, not jerky.

Jeff was kind enough to send me a revision with the parked rpms back down to 600. I idle a bit waiting for the Mrs. and would rather not waste gas. I asked about changing the speed 6th gear engages, hoping I could bring that down from 45mph to something closer to stock tune, which is 37-39mph. Mike at 5Star was able to adjust his 93 performance tune to accommodate this, but SVC was not able to. Not that they didn't want to, but it had to do with having to revert the whole shift strategy to stock. And I definitely did not want that. All the other shift points at varying degrees of acceleration are right where I'd like them to be. It's just that while coasting I'd prefer 6th gear to engage sooner (38mph) rather than later (45mph). Not a biggie.

The SVC tune disables the built in SCT tunes. I'm not sure why it does that since you can only have one tune installed at a time, but presumably you'll have to revert to stock first before you can use one of the SCT canned tunes.

There's options for global spark, gear ratio, and revs per mile for the tires. There's no octane selection (discussed previously), and no speed limiter option (preset at 200mph). And you'll need to know the revs per mile of your tire size to set those.

Like I said I don't know about tuning, but from a newb user perspective I like easy choices like 93 octane, 37" tires, etc. I'm not sure how that could work given the SVT approach to their tune, and am also not sure what choices are available on a SCT tuner, so that's just a suggestion.

I haven't been able to gauge mpgs yet because I'm driving a little more spiritedly than usual. I'll have to report back on that.

I dont know what's going on under the hood, nor do I care to know. All I care about is that my truck is running great. It's a great daily driver and it is very responsive when I step on it. I really like the idea of a single tune rather than different tunes for different situations. So two thumbs up from the newb. YMMV.

We are still testing and comparing the intakes. Next step in the process is to Re data log the trucks and see what numbers we come up with. Once this is done we plan to have a comparison chart or release a package with the intake we feel allows the best performance/drivability gains.

Any idea when we can expect to see this data?

What's the neutral idle speed set at? Stock is 600 correct?

Yes. When you stop at a light it's also 600. It was only while you're in park that is went to 800. I'm sure there's a good reason, but it's an easy fix if you don't like it.

I found mine in the manufacturer website for my brand. That sounds about right.

Disable how? I haven't reflashed since the SVC. Please explain.

When you select the SVC tune to flash it, You get a message that the built in tunes will be disabled. Afterwards, when you go into the program menu, where the SCT tunes used to be, it says "Built in tunes disabled" or something like that.

The net effect is that you can't flash a SCT tune over the SVC tune. You will need to return to stock first, and then flash an SCT tune. The 5Star tunes were not disabled though, so you could technically flash one of those on top of the SVC tune.

But since SVC told me to return to stock before I flashed their tune, that's exactly what I did. I was able to flash their revised tune over their old tune without returning to stock.
