Was listening in to Greg Foutz at the Texas run and he mentioned to keep the sway bar on. I didn't catch the context of his conversation when he said it, but it sounded like an overall recommendation. I think BigJ was there too when he was talking about it... Wish I would have asked him why.

Anyone try to track down a more flexy sway bar? Might be a happy medium vs. having none at all but still get some more articulation of the front end.

The truck was also designed with some flimsy ass rear springs. So I wouldn't keep it on just because he said it was designed that way. Run it however you think it feels best.

We never discussed the rear springs, so I don't know what his recommendation would've been.

I won't speak for Greg, and I do hope he pops up sometime to explain. But his quote was "Sway bar gooood." :D

I asked a few other experts that were at the TRR and they all had different options. I was left with the impression that's its really a personal preference, and each side has good reasons why to run with it or not.

If it matters to you, after 2 years and 40k miles of running with it, I am now without and I will stay without. I very much prefer the ride and handling without when combined with my mods. YMMV.

Great writeup by the way! The only suggestion I might make is that you don't need to actually "remove" the bar. Simply pulling one of the end links gets the same job done (driver's side in my case) and allows for even easier reinstall if you decide you don't like things without it.

I removed both of the sway bar links and folded the sway bar back until it hit the frame and then tied it off. I'm going to drive around like this for a bit and see how I like it before I fully commit. 8mm + 18mm wrenches to remove the link bolts.

Any one tow with the sway bar off? I am on the top perch and have been thinking of giving it a try, but I do tow a small boat or quad trailer all the time. Thanks

When Greg Foutz was explaining the Raptor project which he was an integral part of it's inception, he said that the truck was designed to run with a sway bar so keep it on. He stated there was almost zero benefit to having it off. When you get into race trucks this is a different story, but we don't have race trucks.

Look I'm not going to sit here and argue with Greg Foutz about vehicular engineering concepts, I'm nowhere near his experience level, but I have been offroading (& driving performance vehicles on road and track) for 14 years...... I feel a very noticeable difference without the sway bar attached and there is NOBODY who can convince me otherwise.

Exactly!
I like it without a swaybar, and I don't care what anyone else says!

I was talking to a good friend of mine about this. He's got a resume at last as complete as Greg's. His comment when I shared Greg's opinion with him? Some like their coffee black, and some like it with cream and sugar.

That pretty much summed it up for me. :peace:
