Hey guys I just installed my SW headers this weekend purchased from beefcake. I was wondering what everyone thoughts were about not installing the cats. I've heard the sound remains the same with or without them. So is there any real Benefit in having them off or should I put them back on? I also have a tuner so that would eliminate the check engine light from the O2 sensors. Pros/cons?

It depends. Do you live in an area that requires emissions as part of your state's inspection? If so, you will need them installed.

Yes for inspection I need them in but I can always do that before I bring it. I was just wondering of there is any real advantage to leaving them out.

Only if you were needing every single bit of HP you can get... For a stock truck with headers there is really no reason not to use em and with these new high flow cats they have its not a big loss of HP...

Keep the cats. Not that big of a hp gain with out them and it will help keep the drone down and help keep that popping sound put of the exhaust. Besides you will have to run mil eliminators and they will cost almost as much as the cats. I get around 6 more peak hp from no cats but I get better all over tq with them in.

He means you will need a tuner to remove the 2nd pair of 02 sensors. You might get a mil( malfunction indicator light) or its sometimes called a cel( check engine light)
