Drone? Really? I've chopped mine at the axle and have zero drone. I can't imagine chopping a few more inches would make a difference?

Are you trying to make it louder? Personally, I would do it pointing at the ground behind the axle. Do you sit in traffic often? Whats your reasoning? Just curious...

Stock muffler? Probably won't drone much with stock muffler but when you start getting louder mufflers it could add to the drone. The sound will be stuck bouncing between the ground and the truck, instead of escaping out the side of the truck.

I have done this on a few trucks and the drone really isn't that bad, I usually just cut a small piece of the pipe after the muffler that is supposed to go over the axle and make a turn down after the muffler. Does it make it a little louder? yes, since the turn down is pointing downward. But usually "drone" is at cruising speeds so the sound waves bouncing off the ground isn't an issue when considering other noises when cruising like wind and road noise. I like it because, as previously stated, its one less thing to smash when off roading in uneven terrain.

Hope this helps! :waytogo:
