I am adding ExoShield in a week on my vehicle. It costs $500 installed with ceramic coating. It is suppose to be like ClearPlex, but a lot better. Windshield replacements are free in Florida with auto insurance, but given that I have $200 worth of tint on the windshield, and would have to pay $100 to have the camera recalibrated for the Lane Assist when the windshield is replaced, I thought it would be a worthwhile investment to try.

You should always get OEM glass!

This is a long video, but those of you that are ‘Obsessed’ will enjoy:

I’m unlucky. I’m on my 3rd windshield, all OEM with heating element along bottom for wipers. All done by safelite and done well. Zero deductible every time.
I've used Safelite several time and they've done a very professional job.

They even fixed a leak that was caused by another windshield installation by another company.

I'd definitely use them again.

The problem with Safelite is that you are rolling the dice whether or not you are going to get a good tech that cares about his work. They definitely have some good guys with them, but they also have a lot of hacks and you have no way of knowing which of them is coming to do your windshield. With a mom & pop it's a known quantity who is going to do your work.

Unfortunately it's like anywhere else, great Doctors, bad Doctors, great technicians, bad Technicians, great lawyers, bad lawyers, great Judges, bad judges, great mom and pops, bad mom and pops.

It's always a roll of the dice.

Fortunately for me Saflite has always done excellent work but it doesn't mean they always will.

It's the main reason I always like to be present to make sure it's done properly.

When we were on our way back to NY from Moab this past August, my windshield met a small rock. The rock was so funny, my windshield almost cracked up. In stead, it was a small hole that I was concerned would turn into a big crack. We were in whatever midwestern state at the time about to go for dinner and to a motel. I found a local glass shop on the web. It was after hours. Guy was home and answered the phone. Told me to come by in the a.m. and he'd take care of it. Safelite would have charged $75. He charged me $25. But I gotta say, his repair was not the quality I'm used to at Safelite when it comes to filling holes. They use some type of heat or infrared light and it just comes out better. I was still thankful he fixed it however.

And don't get me wrong, I'm in no way extolling the virtues of Safelite. Just happens the one near me has pretty steady long term employees who happen to love my truck. The manager has been there for a long time, very hard working, busy buy, constantly on phone with insurance companies, etc. He fought both times to get me OEM windshield. They then take truck out with some equipment to be sure the cameras, etc are aligned. Pretty easy on the Raptor.

Much more entailed on my former 911 and other vehicles however.

Well...

Got the windshield replaced.

Now I have to get the driver side window replaced and tinted. My truck was vandalized in the neighborhood.
