I'm about to throw down for a winch and can't seem to decide on a winch mount bracket. I see SDHQ has one and Outlaw has one.

I'm looking for (a) clean, inconspicuous mount behind the OE front bumper, and (b) ease of installation. I don't want some huge thing sticking off the front of my badass truck, and I'd like to avoid hacking off pieces of metal if possible - bolt on would be ideal.

Anyone have some experience with these or other mounts they would share or recommend? I see several threads on the SDHQ mount, but not much on the Outlaw one.

I went with the SDHQ one and I'm happy with it. Here's the thread with pictures.

I had read your thread. Some of the problems you encountered actually made me start considering other options.

I went with the Rough Country mount. No drilling or cutting, straight forward bolt on. No need to remove bumper. Uses six bolts to bottom of frame rails. It looks to me like it has more structural strength built in than the SDHQ mount, it has two plates welded in between where the plate angles up. It is one piece, no bolt on fairlead adapter. Rough Country does not list the Raptor as specific fit, but it does. One very small thing; because it bolts to where the front skid plate mount bolts to the frame, the front edge of the skid plate will be spaced down about 1/4", Barely noticeable after install, no gaps or holes. Because I have a KC light bar, the tow hooks are about 1/2" lower than stock causing me to bend the bumper (by hand) down a little. Again, not noticeable.

Another major selling point is price, Around $200 shipped.

I went with the SDHQ mount and a Warn 9.5 xp-s winch. Had it installed by a local offroad shop. Looks good. Fits great. And I didn't have to swear and curse at it. Someone else did. Good product.

There is something even easier than a fold down mount. We have a front plate mount for a roller fairlead or a hawse fairlead. These just push onto to the fairlead. When you are on the trail, all you have to do is pull them off.
