Why did you choose to supercharge?

I think before making comments on Supercharging or not, you need to actually drive one that is!!!

You have know idea how much better the truck is with all the extra power, it really makes the truck feel like it doesn't weigh as much as it does.

And plenty of guys are off-roading supercharged and loving it, they don't need to mash down on the pedal all the time, well unless their lead foot animals. LOL

Exactly right. I am 45, married with 3 kids, and will never go over 80 top end. The truck does drive and shift better with SC for sure. I also off road quite a bit at my ranch and like the exta power, including for towing my boat and ranch equipment. That is bs comment about ***** extension. It's about making your car fun to drive and what YOU like. I didn't do this for anyone else, but because I like it, and enjoy the process of doing all the mods, and watching the truck look and drive better. Too many on here bash what others are doing because they don't like it. News flash: We do not care what you think! We get on here to ask for advice from people who are more knowledgable or have already done something we would like to do, and would like to troubleshoot or get info before doing it. If someone wants to drive a purple Raptor with 22 inch rims and slicks lowered to 2 inches above the ground, because they like. Great for them! If it makes them happy, then I am glad they like it. Just answer the questions asked and be professional. If someone asks for an opinion about what they are doing then give it. If not, just the facts or your experience.

My truck is 30 days old and has 2,000 miles - no supercharger. Not sure it I will do one or not. I have modded many past cars and trucks and am over mods that impact reliability. I had a whipple supercharged Suburban in the late 90's that was great and and a whipple on my boat with no issues. My last truck was a Chevy Diesel and it was the first diesel truck I did not mod and I found it had enough power for all my needs.

We got a Sequoia for my wife in 2012 and I found that it was nice, but needed something. Since TRD offered a supercharger fully backed by Toyota warranty I decided to have it put on. When I went to pick it up there was a big yellow tag (8" x 12) hanging from the mirror for TRD stating the supercharger makes "excessive" noise and this is not a defect and not a reason for return.

Needless to say it has a lot of supercharger whine. I thought my wife would hate it But within a week she said she never even noticed it unless she romped on it. The toyota had no sound deadening material inside the hood, so I added dynamat on the underside of the hood and that helped. She loved the extra power and from time to time enjoyed putting over aggressive drivers in their place when they tried to jump by her.

We now have 65,000 miles on it and had no issues. Great power, no impact on fuel mileage and it tows our boat like it is not even there. The power out weighs the extra noise.

When I drive the truck, then jump into the Sequoia and I think man this is nice as modest throttle gets you up and going, no issue and make me think the truck needs the power. The truck is just a little more work to drive as you need to get on it to go. When towing the boat you feel the weight when accelerating, where the supercharged Sequoia just pulls (554 hp and 550 ft lbs of torque) with ease.

Truck has plenty of power, but the supercharger would add that extra that simply lets you drive it easy and have all the power you will ever need. Like others here I enjoy the extra power daily. I like to do my mods in the first few months so I get to enjoy them for the life of the car. I remain on the fence at this point but my wife has already asked me twice when I am getting it done!

Some get it. You build the trucks for your needs, or wants. A lot of people have preconceived notions about what a truck should do, or how it should be modded. The problem is, no one has the same requirements, so it unfair to expect someone to meet your expectations on their vehicle.
I have also noticed a lot of people bagging on things like 20" wheels. Guess what, I don't drive a race truck. I also don't have a full roll cage, or a chase rack that takes up the whole bed of the truck. That would not meet what I need to do to my truck.
If I am willing to put $80k in my truck, or more, I think that I am a big enough boy that I don't need to meet the expectations of the peanut gallery.

I decided not to get a supercharger because.....

....I had no idea they existed. I didn't so research when I got my truck. I walked to the lot, said I want this one. Haggled with the dude for a few days til we reached a price, and I came in and signed.

I didn't know you could order trucks. For cheaper. With options.

Good comments. Keep them coming.

But let's keep this on topic and not a flame war. I understand there are different reasons, that's what a discussion forum is for. Nobody needs to justify it, I'm just curious about the differences as told by those who have a SC.
