Hey guys,

Just wanting to keep ya'll updated on my situation, especially the collision. Still fighting insurance who is actively trying to deter me from full compensation for repairs...

Update on my Fab Fours bumper, came in today but... Just like my luck (since I always get the "Bad News...") I walk in to the shop and I'm first told here's some bad news about your bumper. First it finally came in but arrived damaged... what do I do about it?

Sadly the liner used for this isn't Line-X, and its from a shop back home in TX. So I was told there were photos taken, insurance notified, and the bumper will have some black touch-up applied so it doesn't rust out but still mounted & installed. The shipping company didn't pack the bumper well enough where it mattered and the pallet it sat on collapsed and it rubbed all up on the tow hooks area.

The truck has been in the shop for 3 1/2 weeks now and it's eating me up on the inside for this "replacement" to be damaged and put on anyways. The shop says they filed a claim with the shipping company but truthfully who sees that money or compensation? I was told that, I should just be able to go back home to TX one day and have it touched up no problem, but I seriously have my reservations against such ease.

Sorry for my rant but also this is to spite Line-X of Annapolis, the "owner" laughed at me when I requested him to do my bumper in XS-350 because as he said, "What? Are you trying to survive bombs?" with a laugh. I find that completely insulting and inappropriate. I'm in the military and that's a poor joke to use but this shipping accident goes to prove that XS-350 (Line-X) would have probably stood this no problem compared to the no-name competitor stuff. If you're a customer of Line-X of Annapolis, watch out for this business, I've never had a business owner laugh at me or question what I want. Its my ******* money, and you're paid to do what I want especially if I'm just a nice customer who only asked for your business.

That liner looks weak as shit if it couldn't handle a broken pallet rubbing on it for a little bit.

First of all, the shipping company should know better to use a rotted pallet to ship stuff.
Second, the liner company definitely did not put enough coats of whatever junk product they sold you.
Third, I would have this shit liner stripped and redone by a real company because I doubt the liner that is already on there will last very long.
Last, tell Line-X of Annapolis to go **** themselves.

^Yeah, that was exactly what was going through my mind. I was sold on Line-X back in Texas and while it is unfortunate that there is only one Line-X franchise here in Annapolis, I guess I will have to wait until next year when I get summer Leave to have my bumper redone at Line-X of Houston or San Antonio.

I was so dubiously aware of the sub-quality many other Line-X competitors claim for their products but this in hand makes me sick thinking my truck has to wear this for a full year. Its one thing if I damaged it myself but another since this resulted through no fault of my own.

Customer Service is a big thing for me and I think in no small way has my accident gone as smoothly as I had hoped it would. The shop guys are nice and competent but the other factors/parties involved in this headache of a loop boils my blood. 3 1/2 Weeks of down time, a busted up liner for a bumper, shit coverage by Insurance even though I pay top-dollar, and spurn of business from the only real liner dealer here is ridiculous.

I think he has a valid reason to bitch hard. You have one issue after another and with each one the bp goes up thinking,"**** man can someone do something right?"
I for one ain't wired like a mallard to let bad shit run off my back. I have expectations. If I'm right and the other person is wrong, you better make it right or we're going to war.

I am a win kind of guy also, but at my age sanity versus winning, trying to make a stupid person see things right. It comes to dealing with Morons, they drag you down to their level and beat you with stupidity... no thanks 50.00 bucks and I can go home and relax knowing “Never argue with an idiot; he will bring you down to his level and win from experience.”

I had to get mine touched up and the local linex guy charged me 50.00 and too k care of it... Is all this stress worth 50.00 ? Mine looks perfect and matched exactly...

$50? I would be happy to pay $200 even and be done with it, but that's not an option here. First off, the local Line-X guy here is a total wiseguy and I'd prefer to have the same compound/mix used the first time to fix the first ****-up. Its like saying, here let me touch up your Oxford White paint with some Terrain, I mean they're almost the same right? Nope.

Thanks for the support man. I just hate how my truck has been in the shop for 3 1/2 weeks, waiting for every little part and its always something or another that I am told hasn't gone right. Like right now, I mean come on? The bumper getting ****** after I was eagerly expecting a "new" one to replace the other ****** up one. I mean I might as well have just kept the old one since the same liner issue would have undoubtedly come up anyways.

The company that sprays this liner back in Texas is going to get a piece of my mind when I get back. I mean how can you advertise your stuff is "just like Line-X but competitively priced." I mean I know you get what you pay for but in this case I was left out of the loop to what my liner would be.

That, and the fact that Insurance wrote me a check for ~$2.4K. Did you know the BARE METAL bumper alone is $2.7K? What about paint, fenders, flares, headlights, realignment, hood, and etc? Insurance really did me in on this.

Laws may vary, but they are required to restore your truck to what it was when you had an accident. If your personal insurance company is not dealing with it, I would engage an attorney to get things handled properly. There are all sorts of stupid insurance company tricks, and this sounds like one. Another idea would be to step it up to your adjusters supervisor. Sometimes that will do the trick.
In the past year I have had somewhere around 12 different accidents to deal with between personal and business. Only one of them was our fault. I get to deal with insurance a lot. You just need to let them know you aren't going to roll over and take it.

New Guy,
Sorry to hear about your bad luck. Try giving a call to Line-x of Laurel (MD). They do all the Line-x work for Apple Ford and they did my truck bed. They do good quality work. Good luck.
