Do you guys that bought the esp have any concern about getting exhaust, tune, etc? I didn't get the warranty because I figured it would be voided by doing a stereo, exhaust, and tune.

I went through this for my vette. Buying an extended warranty to overlap with factory warranty makes very little sense. Factory bumper to bumper is the best kind of warranty possible for any vehicle, so why would I bother overlapping that with an extended warranty?

Better thing to do is to wait for the last few months of when the factory warranty is going to run out and then load up on an extended warranty. If you still have the vehicle at that point and plan to keep it around for a few more years.

I bet 90% of you that bought the extended warranty will not even have the vehicle at the point. I personally don't see the need to do the next owner a big favor.

disagree, especially with a first model year vehicle.

Even if I sell at 3-4 years, I'm pretty sure that I will likely sell much faster and at a higher price when I mention that the truck comes with another 3 years of full warranty. Also, the extended warranty is cheaper if bought within the first year.

Agree. In any case, for this particular model, a full warranty is going to be necessary while you own it. Engine replacement and transmission replacement will get you in the $15k range... or more.

But if the truck comes with a 5yr 60k power train warranty you will have to really ask yourself do you plan on owning this truck longer than this to justify the warranty expense.

Hey MGD, (aka Sasquatch), do you forget the numerous posts that you have made telling owners, "make sure to get the extended warranty!"

You truly are delusional. But keep at it, Im sure you are hurting Ford's sales with all your posts on numerous forums.....NOT!

I went with the 6 yr 125k full warranty. 100$ deductible. Especially with the led headlights etc.
I don’t care about the overlapping years. I picked my truck up 2nd of February and I already have 25k miles. So I bought it specifically for the extended mileage coverage.
It came in handy on my 2012, went through a lot of iwe’s after the 60k powertrain warranty. And steering racks. They were all replaced no questions asked.

I did 6yr 125k as that about the longest Ill keep it unless a Gen 3 comes out sooner.

As for mods voiding, I have no desire for an aftermarket exhaust or tune. Nothing sounds that good and there is plenty of power.

You are confusing the issue. Extended warranty is indeed very useful, particularly on first model year vehicles.

When you buy the extended warranty is the issue. Buying it right up front when you have factory warranty is silly. There is a reason it is "cheaper" now - you are giving them free money because your factory warranty is still live. If you wait till the last month of factory warranty and buy extended warranty for an additional 2/3/4/5 years, you will find that you will pay the same for per year of additional coverage as you did now but get more years of coverage for the same amount spent.

Oh, expecting a higher resale because of extended warranty is a big maybe. And even if you get a bit more, you will never get what you paid for the warranty to make it worthwhile as a selling tool.
