The hole saw was brutal. My wife came out in the garage at one point and asked if I had done the scary part yet. Lol

I gotta ask, why the cab and not above the tail lights or in the tail gate?

To me highest spot isn't always best, but I don't deal with the same conditions as you might

In the snow conditions we have the tail gate get completely covered in snow and you can't even see your tail lights.
The highest spot where he put them is the best place for them especially in blizzard conditions plus if someone parks behind you on the side of the road in an emergency
you can still see them if it's a smaller car.
