First off springs are designed to deal with the weight of the vehicle. There are different spring rates and types out there, geyser progressive, Eibach linear. So first gen needs first gen springs. Sure you can jam a second gen whatever in there but it is not made for it. Next is valving. Valving has absolutely nothing to do with the trucks weight. Valving is designed to dampen the forces that the spring creates. So gen two shock needs to be revalved to whatever spring you are using. A good shock rebuilder or tuner would have a shock dyno, and use it to get working data and reshim the shocks accordingly. The top hats have been covered, the shock shafts are no different, but the bodies on the gen two are longer. This causes the internal bypass to become an issue due to where the tunes change in the shock body. Again it works but is not tuned to the spring. The aftermarket springs negate any effect of shorter gen one factory springs. And that’s all I have. Good luck, I will at some point in my life do the bucket swap and install aftermarket gen two coilovers and I have also purchased the rear shock extenders to ensure the suspension stays balanced.</p></blockquote><p></p>
