Installed a new set of Vortex Mud Flaps.

On the original ones, the screws were rusty, which left rust streaks, and I hate rust.

This new set had been on the bench awhile, which was lucky since I broke a flap at the dunes two weeks ago.

For the new ones, I set them a little more outboard, using the old one as a drilling guide to use the same holes in the truck.

Also used stainless screws and black screw caps. The screws were a size larger than comes with the flaps, so they would be secure in the old holes.

Just wondering do these really even help with tire fling? It seems like the stock wheels tuck in the fenders pretty well. Ive been debating winter options because the methods stick out and seem to fling shit all over.

Yes they do. Really cut down on the crap ending up on the sides of the truck.

Here's a pic on the first install. The spray on the door was without the flap, and there is much less with the flaps on.

Like this?

Granted, I got stuck and had to back over a small dune. The tire must have grabbed it.

They really did work well while they were on. Kept all that road grime, slush and snow off the sides of the truck. The picture of my truck on the Snoball pic thread where we are all in line - that was after driving all day to get there on winter roads. Someone on FB actually asked why my truck was so clean! I'm going to do something interesting with rubber mud flaps from a farm store. Try to style them like the others but a little more flexible.....
