Fun with FORScan last weekend. Bought the recommended adapter:

Backed up all the as-built files, used easy mode to change TPMS to the lowest setting, 30psi. Seemed to work, the instrument panel light went off immediately, I have 36psi front and 34psi rear. A little weird that the setting in FORScan is "front placard" and "rear placard" and there's some other setting for TPMS in there that doesn't give you an option to lower the pressure (just turn 'em off maybe?), but I guess it will light up if a tire goes below 30psi? Will hafta test it out one of these days.

Used the spreadsheet to change the hexadecimal or whatever it is code for lane change blinker from default 3 to 5, that worked like a charm. Tried to disable the disable NAV in motion but no joy there, it's still locked out when moving, back to the drawing board. Also tried to disable park assist since I unplugged all the rear bumper sensors whilst installing SVC Baja bumper a few years ago and that didn't seem to work either, still get the mildly annoying "check sensors" message in the instrument cluster when reversing, but no biggie. And changed splash screen to Raptor but is that for the Head Unit or the Instrument Panel? Doesn't seem to be any different, HU is blue oval and IPC is the Built Ford Tough thing.

Also swapped 12V socket for an actual cigar lighter socket and element (kept the factory bezel and socket, drove the hinge roll pin on this new bezel so Mr element doesn't hang on the cover, it would close but didn't want to open back up):

Spent the day with @Gumby checking into possible Lead Frame issue.

I ordered the cable after getting home from an 11 mile hike on New Year's Day. On way home, Raptor j-e-r-k-e-d like it hit a speed bump or felt like it downshifted HARD but only for a split second. All dash instruments went dead, odoms all went blank. Air bag light came on. I briefly saw a LARGE wrench symbol for a second or two. WTF!?!??!!! Truck kept driving. STopped at stop sign and then accelerated fine. I stopped about 10 minutes later and restarted and all looked back to normal. Was about 90 miles from home.

Called @Gumby , explained symptoms. He said sounded like Lead Frame. Again, WTF?!?!???!!! :( Ordered the FORscan cable early Monday evening (New Year's Day), got it around 8pm that night.

Spent Tuesday reading a TON of info, forums, sending inquiries to transmission shops, talking to Gumby. Called Service Advisor at Ford dealer, left him a message. He texted me back a couple hours later. Apparently my Raptor had a software/flash update in 2016 to prevent transmission from slamming down to 1st gear at highway speeds. Well, good for that. That extended the Lead Frame recall to 2021, but they would only replace it IF you had the issue. So....NOW I have the issue.....tuff chlt! It's out-of-pocket.

Gumby called me Tuesday morning, said he was on the way over. He picked me up, we went down to Best Buy to get a Windows laptop (both of us are MAC guys). He bought one, we setup in their Geek bar area, downloaded some updates, installed the FORscan software. Grabbed some McD's on the way back to my house.

Got home, spent a RIDICULOUS amount of time trying to get connected to wi-fi. I have a ridiculously LONG password that I can NEVER remember. The computer remembers it for you.....right??? Finally got past that, hooked up to my Raptor......

DANGER, WILL ROBINSON.....DANGER!!! Got a bunch of codes, one of them appeared to be the speed sensor on the Lead Frame. MOTHER F$&&#&#!!

Well.....at least I know what it is.

Gumby and I talked about doing it ourselves. I got a couple quotes from several transmission shops. One that I talked to for quite a while emailed me a quote around $1100.xx Sounds reasonable. Beats killing ourselves doing it and creating a BIG MESS.

Talked to 2 or 3 transmission shops, explained that I need the Lead Frame replaced on a 6R80 transmission, they said, "what's that?". I was like, "sorry, wrong number!"

Options now are to either just keep driving it or get it fixed. Was told that one Raptor owner we know had the issue and nursed his for 100k miles more before getting it taken care of. I don't think I have the patience for that. I'd be wound up all the time waiting for that slamming issue and it would just freak me out.

--------

We did do some cool stuff with FORscan after running all of the diagnostics!

Set pass signals to 5 blinks instead of 3.

Turned off my TPMS warning light that randomly came on 1.5 years ago. I don't have TPMS modules installed.

Set Raptor SVT splash screen on startup.

Also tried to disable NAV in motion. Initially it looked liked it may have worked, but then we drove around neighborhood and as usual, over a certain speed, it would not work.

Deleted park assist sensors since I have after-market bumpers.

Changed lock/horn beep to just silent when locking. I still get a slight chirp from my Viper alarm.

Tried a few other things, but they didn't seem to work.

I'm sure Gumby went home and was reading all about FORscan, so he probably knows a lot more about it by now. Probably did a bunch of stuff to his wife's Raptor when he got home.

LOL @BenBB I was still typing this long thing when you posted yours.

Haha yep! So you've replaced the lead frame once already? From Ford or China Fyorde? Both probably come from the exact same factory heh, but I've been hesitant to order the weird brand name ones as a "just in case". How did you nuke the park assist sensors??

I forgot to mention I used FORScan on my '13 Exploder chasing what appears to be a common issue, airbag light staying on. I need to ohm out the pins from the RCM to the passenger seatbelt tensioner this weekend but it's pretty cool what FORScan can do, the live data is awesome (until you inadvertently run down the vehicle battery heh).

NOt replaced yet, they had a software update back then that prevented dropping into 1st gear at hwy speeds, that is all that had been done.

Don't know how or what area the park assist sensors were, @Gumby was driving the FORscan computer. We were just poking around in there trying to see what stuff was. I'm not sure if someone doesn't have a chart of all the settings. I see that Gumby has started a DTC's thread, but I have not looked at it yet.

Funny you should mention that. After sitting in my Raptor all day and running some with the engine on, but mostly with the engine off, as we decided to call it quits for the day and I went to start the engine......battery NO happy! Did NOT want to start. Threw it on a NoCo Genius charger at 5pm yesterday and took it off at 10am this morning. Green light. :D

Last night was able to get a few minor things done. Replaced the puddle lights with morimotos (PO had those projector style ones that displayed “Raptor” in a blue oval on the ground, wasn’t a fan) and also switched out the interior lights with Sylvania LED’s. Looks brighter in the picture but in person it’s just right, also did the license plate lights.
