Finished up the Long Tube Header install today. Long weekend under the truck. The bolts on the manifold are a pain to get out. Its just some gymnasics figuring out what size socket, with what extension (or wrench) works best. The best part is once you get the manifolds out and you feel like you have a plan for the headers, well yeah, they wont take the same approach. I used a socket and extensions for all but 1 or 2 on the manifold, and a ratcheting wrench for most of the header bolts (used the stock studs). the tubes are in the way for a socket. Actually getting them in place wasn't that bad. once you get the motor up and the manifolds out, my headers slid right in - ish. No where near as bad as others ive had to fight to get in place.
It sounds righteous though. long tube headers to catless Y pipe to dirty deeds side exit exhaust. Quiet is not a word that will come to mind. But actually, at highway speeds, just cruising its really not any louder than before. But stepping on it, yeah its SEVERAL decibels more. LOL
next project. sound deadening the interior. LOL
