I'm wondering how much difference it makes eliminating the stock center speaker from the audio system and dedicating it to the mobile radio...think I'll try that at some point.
hardly a difference. im getting your antenna ready so when it arrives, you can try for yourself

Lots of different places
Panel/vent. Auto works. Actually its locked into defrost only. 2012

Do I have this right, so bottom left is floor/vent/defrost and circled is driver temp? I replaced the bottom left and didn't change anything. It does a sweep and then stops.

Sorry for the thread hijack.
Yes from what I've read that's correct. Does sound like the control unit but I don't know for sure, the one you replaced should move the blend door from defrost down to floor and then to vents if it's working right, or rather if it's getting the signal from the control unit to do so. Again, battery ok? The USB issue may not be related but it could point to low battery, they do some strange things when the system doesn't get voltage (mine was throwing error reading navigation card messages right before battery went)...

you can take the top tray off and remove the center channel speaker, and stuff that speaker down there. still get plenty of volume and it stays hidden. its how mine is and works really well

You implying it doesn’t look good up there as is? ;)

I actually had thought about doing that and had a similar question to @BenBB.

I was going to try it up there for a while and see if it was any better back under the rear seat. If I do like it I will probably consider doing what you suggested.

Try to find some NRFI helicopter intercom headsets. I promise you will be able to hear everyone.

I had considered doing an intercom, but just have not really looked in to too much. How much would the cable the ability to hear things going on around you, engine/drivetrain noise, etc? I assume basically all of it.

Wondered that too.

my nav sits right there so i needed a speaker placement option. decided to use the center channel since its an empty hole now. back of the cab is not going to sound good. best to keep it up front

i still suggest using the center channel speaker for guys that have the icom f5021. the speaker in the icom is terrible offroad. the larger speaker in the center channel (if its still there) sounds way better and since its so cheap, requires so little power, can use the icom for power with no amp needed

Last night finished burning in the LCA reinforcements on both sides. If I were to do it again, I'd probably drop the front axle so the dif isn't in the way, was a bear to work around.

The one you just changed above the gas pedal does do the floor, vent and defrost. Take it back out and see if it is positioned in the gear properly. Did you get all 3 screws back in or just 2 of them? Could maybe check the wiring didn't fall off first. I broke the clip on mine and ziptied it in place, lol.

@Jakenbake... I can hear 3 other people no problem over the noise of two T700 engines and the chop of a 4 bladed rotor.

Basically anything branded David Clark you're in good hands.

Good deal. If I end up going that route I will check them out. I do like listening to the engine, powersteering, transmission, etc. just to keep an eye on things.

Hm, that's what I'm looking for then. You're thinking the new actuator might have a problem? It's real easy getting to and I did buy a 2nd I never thought to try. All 3 installed and clip/connector is fine. Took it out a few times and checked it and everything looked fine. Also could manually move the linkage/gear wheel to flip the door with no problem.
