ive seen a couple of guys just welding in (i assume) a muffler of their choice and keeping the stock tailpipes. i would like to do this instead of a full cat back for rite now. any help would be great like measurements, i believe its 3"inlet and 2.5" dual outlet but what size body muffler do u use? any pros/cons of this mod? i was thinking flowmaster 40

It depends on what muffler you want. 40 series 50 series. They come one size then you just need some pipe to fill the gap from the MASSIVE stock muffler

I saw one fall off a Raptor....

Really...it was welded on...didn't survive the first Raptor Run and fell off. I was quite humored by it.

buy a 3" IN dual 2.5 OUT muffler. the pipe from the cat back to the muffler is just under 3" so they will have to flare it out and extend it with 3" pipe in to the muffler. then, hook up the dual 2.5" stock tailpipes and any associated piping/hangers. i've had mine on for well over a year trouble free and it sounds great.

Here ya go man - http://www.fordraptorforum.com/f23/flowmaster-super-44-a-151/

You will get drone with the super 44 (but it sounds the best IMO), less with the 40 series and little to none with the 50 series. There are several different inlet/outlet combos for each muffler, you were correct you want 3"inlet and dual 2.5" outlet

Hope that helps.

Get your muffler, some good pipe (no cheap parts store) buy a exhaust pipe expander. You can make your joints fit really tight before you weld it. You could also buy a spare hanger and rubber to help keep it supported if you have a really long pipe section.
