Water under carpet

I recently had my audio system upgraded and my installer told me that the floor was wet underneath the carpet (mostly in the back). I recently sprayed off my truck with a pressure washer and now wondering if the third brake light is the culprit, but I guess it could potentially be the moon roof. I know this is a common issue, but wondering the best steps to identify the cause. Also, at what point should I worry about mold? I don’t smell anything at the moment. Will I need the carpet replaced, or can I take care of the leak and let it dry out on its own?

being that you are in the gen 2 section, im going to guess either the moonroof drain tubes are clogged or theres an issue with the moonroof itself. seen many leak over the years

I had water under mine as well. My water was under the carpet under the passenger front floor mat. I had it in the shop at 30k miles and 35k.


The first time at 30k, they fixed a condensation drain line that goes thru the firewall under the glovebox, about where the floor carpet stops and where somebody's toes would be if they were sitting there, as it starts up the firewall on passenger side. They fixed that the first time because there was mold starting to grow.

The second time at 35k, because it was still happening, they missed it the first time because I actually had two leaks. They traced it down to behind the passenger back seat above where the jack and the power inverter is. Their is vent that is on the back wall of the cab behind the passenger rear seat the clip was broke during installation. water was going down the back of the cab and leaking into the cab and getting the carpet wet and pooling up under passenger floor mat.

They ended up having to take all the seats except the driver seat out and the console to remove and replace the carpet when they replaced that vent. Those are the two water issues I had. Not sure if that is your culprit or not but those are two spots you can check as well.

Make sure you mention the word "MOLD,MOLD,MOLD,MOLD" multiple times and you don't want to get sick. I dont know if they would have replaced my carpet or not. I think because I said mold a lot they did it for liability issues.

it was under warranty. why should I bother doing it.

I had water but it was in the front passenger side. Mine was from the AC condensation drain tube. I used Youtube to solve the issue myself and avoid going to dealer
