So I went offroading lightly today.
You'll see from the video.

The vehicle started violently jerking. As soon as I got into the sand and turned on 4H.
The same violent jerking happened in all modes.
Normal, Sport, Sand, and Baja.

I purchased my 2017 with 8,000km (5,000 miles) and it now has 40,000 (25,000 miles) on it.
I've never taken it off road and I doubt the previous owner did.

Anyways, I've uploaded a few videos for you all to see.
But basically when moving from stopped or slow, the car violently jerks. Once I'm up to a little speed, it almost goes away.

Could it be from the Pedal Commander?
I honestly doubt it. But the sun was setting - otherwise I would've disconnected the pedal commander & tried without it.

This is a brief video: (the others are a bit longer)

other shorter clips:

Long:

I ended up getting stuck - a nearby nissan patrol got me out.

Did you turn off Traction Control?

Thanks for asking.

I thought I forgot to mention something in my original post.

Yes, tried it in the 3 modes:

In fact, in some clips you can see the traction control mode I am in - when I record the instrument panel.

traction control on: happened but the least jerking
I suppose because before the jerking could happen, traction control would cull throttle

basic traction control off: (single press of dash button)
a lot of jerking

ESC OFF: long press of button
also violent jerking

The vibrations frequency looks a little too high to be wheel hop to me. Does the truck do the same thing in 2h? Perhaps an issue with the front differential when it’s under load. Good luck....

what was your tire pressure?
It looks like you’re wheel hopping pretty much everywhere.

agree with smurfslayer completely.
Drop air pressure, definitely wheel hop in my opinion. My one-tons have all done it pulling trailer on the sand, my f150s have all done it with too much pressure and throttle.
I usually run in 12-15lb range tho i dont throw it into corners, just in case , dont want sand in the bead. Tho ill drop to 9or 10 if im stuck and cant get a yank.

Its the tires throwing the soft sand out from underneath tires and trying to find the traction.

Air down and have a blast.

This all opinion by my years of experience living at Pismo. Take or leave it ;)

Oh and FYI

2wd should be way less noticeable hop. Tho still will have some due to the lovely stock springs/blocks. I save 4wd for dune climbs or when im stuck in 2wd.

I thought it's wheel hopping as well. But look at the hood. It's almost flying off the vehicle.

I was at 38. Admittedly did you air down much. But still. I don't think it's wheel hop.

yeah you need to air way down. hard tires and soft sand do not work

try playing around 15-20psi and go from there

Yeah usually air down to 15 - 20

But this was violent jerking.
Doubt it's traction related.

I didn't want to try 2h lest I get stuck. Then when I got stuck, I tried 4L to get out.

I'll try of it happens in 2h tomorrow.

I really really hope it's tire pressure related.

Tomorrow I'll air down to 15 psi and try.

But the whole car was jerking.

Look at the hood.
