I'm looking at replacing my mag mount and drilling the cab for the antenna. I've seen a few Raptors with the antenna mounted near the third brake light, that's the easiest place to reach. Has anybody mounted their antenna more in the center for a better ground plane? I see a nice spot right above my dome light, but I do have a sunroof and need to clear that. How is your antenna mounted?

I had actually thought of placing an antenna closer to the center , but i really didn't want to deal with the sunroof and dropping the liner enough to pull the wire.

Placing it close to the third light was rather simple. I'll be interested on the outcome , because i still need to place an FM antenna somewhere on the truck

CR,
Here is my drilled in garage freindly antennas. They are NMO mounts and I can put my 5/8 VHF whip on there for if I need longer range. The roof is pretty flimsy for an antenna, so I may run the low most of the time. Needing a good ground plane is great if and when it is possible. Also, take into account if the antenna is 1/4, 1/2, 5/8 wave antennas as grounds are needed more with some and less for others and higher frequencies can need less GP area than say a CB or HF rig.

We mounted it close to the center. No issues with that location and seems to work well. Not the best photo in the world but its all I could did up in my files.
