I don't know if it has been touched on or not but how long (I know it's a relative question) will a PowerTank last (say 15lb.) when airing all fours up from 20 psi? How many times can I do this? Where do you fill it? What's it cost to fill it? How much of the gas would I use if I chose to carry an impact wrench (I think that's right) to quickly remove lug nuts (sounds stupid now that I asked). Longevity and the cost of gas would be my main concern. Air is free, from a compressor stand-point. Basically, what is the cost to benefit besides portability?

More info - this from one of the key suppliers:

A 10# tank: A 35x12.5 tire can be aired up from 5lbs to 30lbs in under 2 mins per tire x 40 per 10lb tank. (A 10# tank can air 40 35" tires from 5 lbs. to 30 lbs. - this is an estimate).

Gauges to show pressure remaining in the tank are of no use because the pressure will remain at whatever the regulater is set to until the tank is empty.

The main benefits are speed and reliability - you can air up tires very quickly - AFAIK faster than any compressor or tank you could carry with you. You can use it to power air tools (and air locker(s) if you have them on a Jeep, etc.).

The tanks can be refilled at most any carbonation company (soda fountain company) as they are the main users of CO2 and CO2 tanks.

While we're finalizing the selection of products it would be very helpful to know how many of you are interested in having a portable, very fast, cost-effective CO2 tank option. I expect the basic combo will be under $200 not including shipping (BIG SAVINGS!). By the way, these tanks can also be used to power air tools (BONUS).

So, are you interested in a CO2 setup for fast tire inflation?

Any updates?

FYI: I'm waiting on a vendor to provide me with some information and then I'll be posting information on how to go with a CO2 tank for inflating tires. Nothing is faster and more dependable than CO2 (as long as you have the tank with you).

The cost will be way less than Powertank and Outback Air. Stay tuned.

Bumping this thread after i burned up my "high quality" 12v air compressor this last weekend.
Read on another forum how a guy made this...
I have $50 in this setup and will add two more 24oz tanks to go behind my back seat (total of 3)
It costs $5 to fill one at ***** and 5th fill is free.
Really happy, works great

NICE! about how far does a bottle go? IOW, how much inflation do you get from a bottle?

I'm gunna do a test tomorrow. Just guessing from results from 10# i would say i could air up 8 tires per 24oz (from 30 to 48) I'll report back
