I'm thinking of designing & fabricating an under transmission skid plate that ties into the front factory skid plate which attaches under the bumper. I'm thinking of going 1/4" thick stainless plate, a basic flat profile. Anyone done something similar?

Thanks-

Stainless would be nice. It will also brake more easily that mild steel. But no rust is a big bonus.

There are three locations you can bolt your skid to on the cross member. Two holes are already in use by the transfer case skid. The third is towards the passenger side. You will need one of those nut clips to utilize the existing hole.

Look into an access hole for oil changes.

Add some stiffer plates on the top side to add strength.

Check out the sliders and skids thread for some ideas.

Good luck and post some pics of your progress.
