How far out are you talking? The regular Ecoboost 3.5 outsells the 5.0 and it appears to be ~$1k to go Ecoboost. Where is this insider info for us outsiders?

I've heard the possibility of a mid year 18 release, much like when the 6.2 was offered. You aren't going to find it posted anywhere, or not that I know of, It's just words from people in the industry, so I don't expect anyone that doesn't want to believe to do so.

Why would Ford "detune" their performance truck for what would be a negligible price point change? It does not seem they are having any issue selling the truck at their current price point. So what would be the benefit for them? The 6.2 was always slotted for the Raptor but wasn't ready for prime time when the Raptor debuted. Correct? So I don't see these 2 being similar situations.

There has always been an argument that Ford would have sold more Cobras, GT500s, STs, RSs, etc if only they offered an AT option. But they never did it. So I don't see them compromising on the Ford Performance lineup in offering a "detuned" Raptor. Now the next GT500 may get the 10spd, but that's a different conversation.

Where is all this confidence coming from? The article from C&D that you misread? There are sources directly from ford and many other articles confirming the raptor will retain the power plant for 2018.

I'm just telling you the rumoring from some people that work closely with ford, I'm not going to argue it or try to prove it, not really worth my time or effort.

Ah, the good ol' "I know you are but what am I" retort. Such a classic and to be expected from someone of your wit.

I'm not trying to argue with you. Truly I'm interested in the reasoning behind doing what you're talking about.

I'm not the expert here, I just overhear things. Maybe it's because there is a demand for an FI V8 but that would increase the price beyond what they think they can sell so they offer an na V8 and let the consumer do what they will. Who's to say, I just have faith in the few different unassociated people that I've heard it from.

Fair enough, hard to believe, but fair enough.

Horse power kings [emoji23]? I guess we'll have to wait and see but everyone including ford has been pretty clear the ttv6 will be staying the same and it will be the exclusive raptor engine while the na v6 and v8s will be getting updates for the other f150s. But everybody seems to know somebody who knows a guy whose dog groomer's cousin works at ford.
