I had found a few threads about concerns around the Twin Panel Moonroof.

The thoughts were the rigidity of the cab roof wasn't up to par under flexing of the frame/body in 4x4 situations that would/could cause issues with the Moonroof or corresponding cab structure.

I'm sure in the most extreme off camber/ twisted frame flexing of the vehicle there would be distortion. I can't see where in moderation that the Moonroof "structure" would be impacted greatly or significant damage would occur.

Anyone have experiences to share??

Mine has squeaked constantly since 5k miles, currently at 37k miles. Waiting on new parts to see if that fixes it. White lithium grease on the tracks and silicone wipes ont the seals did not help.

last 3 cars / suv has had the twin pane panorama roofs. at this point...it is a must have for us.

yes, they do tend to rattle here and there, but never had a serious problem with it.

@goblues38 I have driven/ridden several vehicles with these types of Moonroofs to find the airflow is a HUGE improvement. I could even forgo the AC in certain driving conditions with the better airflow. Not to mention the visual/light transmission is improved.

Have it in my Raptor and new Superduty. I really like them. My Raptor is a pavement pounder so that is probably why it has no rattles. With that said, what little I do offroad it is still quiet.

After sitting in a truck with it and without. It was a must have, it's a new truck with warranty as well. I wouldn't be to concerned about it. I would go to a dealer, find an f-150 with and without it, sit inside and judge for yourself if it's worth it knowing the possible issues that may come up.

I love my twin panel moonroof.
It does rattle if it's super cold or icy like the roof flex rubbing the seals?

I have a different issue where there's a random tap over certain road textures. It sounds like a hard plastic object tapping on glass. I thought I narrowed it down and found a fix for it but it's a temporary fix so I'm not sure anymore.

It's super annoying but I guess I can live with that.

It's an absolute must have for me. Having that open air during the fall and spring is an awesome feeling.

For those who are have squeaking issues; im curious as to how loud is this squeak. I have a squeaking noise from the moonroof but only when there are slight imperfections in the road or speed bumps. I've tried grease on the tracks and no change. Is this normal sound or a visit to the dealer?

I agree with the others: As a taller/bigger guy, it's a must have for me. It really makes the cab feel more open, especially in the summer when I have it down and the back sliding window open.

My current F150 (XLT -- Raptor on order) has the twin panel moonroof. And it definitely rattles. I'll be honest, it sucks and it's annoying. But 1) I've done zero to fix it (it's a lease) and 2) moonroof + rattle > no moonroof at all.

And in terms of structural stability, unless you plan on really thrashing some offroad terrain with your truck, I doubt the structural integrity will be compromised.

tl;dr: Get the moonroof.
