I will most likely be going with pure turbos. I’d be shocked if the motor couldn’t take the extra power, so long as the tune is good and maybe run some e85 to be safe. Switzer performance got a Raptor to 550-600whp. Pure turbos is testing the turbos in the next week or two I believe and will post dyno sheets along with it.
the motors are very touchy around VCT. The block has some of the same interesting design choices as the focus RS. Above all, the torque management system is VERY complicated. as I understand it, the torque system is this overprotective based on the clutch design in the 10-speed trans. (from what I hear, overly aggressive shifts will nuke the clutches. the springs and fastener sizes are also light duty, thus why the 10 speed in the superduty trucks is a completely different model number that is beefed up.
before anyone says " the Camaro has a lot more horsepower and it is the same trans, the GM and Ford have a 7% parts compatibility. while they were co-designed, the components are very different.
going beyond what a tune can do for you is a precarious choice, but by all means, please be a beta tester so we can all learn what to avoid.
