So I installed the HeftyWorks transmission skid plate several weeks ago and did notice that there is a large round hole where the oil drain plug is located, so oil changes should not be a problem with this new skid.

Well today I take it to the dealer for an oil change to get ready for my trip to Texas and when I get home, I notice that I am leaking oil on the driveway.

When they pulled the plug, apparently they got quite a bit of oil on top of the skid plate and it drained out the back oval holes in the skid, plus there was some in front of the hole, down on the engine skid also. Oil was just dripping off the skid, not a whole lot but enough to drip. So after it cooled down, I took a rag and wiped up all the oil.

I know, don't have someone else do your maintenance but does anyone else that has this skid that doesn't do their own oil changes have this issue? Is the large hole really not in a good location? I was thinking about calling the dealership but figure they are going to tell me that because I have an aftermarket skid plate, that they can't help me and next time to remove it before bringing it in again for service.

The dealership is just being lazy. They should have cleaned up the mess before sending you down the road.

The hole is in a good location, but if they remove the plug and let it rip, it could squirt far enough to get onto the top of the skid.

Don't worry, after you get done dirty and mud on top of the skid, it will keep it from letting the oil drip out! Lol...
