Transmission : service writer said he wasn't going to change the filter??? Is this how ford rolls?

Ok 3rd dealer wanted to sell (again) the transmission flush. Only after pressing him he agreed to do a pan down service on the trans for 400-600.

That's not bad. My brother got charged between 700-800 for the change.
Hourly rate for the dealer we know is now 200/hr

whats worse is when the first time i asked for a fluid drain and fill i got charged $280, figured same price for the 2nd time, was $700 just in labor.

to then find out they flushed it the first time and thats why it was that price, and i think like roughly a year later its now like $440 for a flush.

Lucky the trans drop isnt terrible for our trucks for next change.

At least fluid and filter got changed, temps roughly 1-2* lower and it shifts a bit smoother, the shift into 5th i dont even notice anymore.

I wouldn't let the dealer touch my transmission. Too many bad things can happen. Several here have had problems after early servicing.

How are you gonna know which thing they did?
I was wondering the same thing. I will probably wind up marking some things on the trans pan . I always mark
The oil filter when I take it in for an oil change.

These are the reasons I call them $ealerships, and these are the reasons Ford $tealerships may become service only in the future if things keep going the way they are. At which point I suspect (and hope) all the crooked bastards loose their jobs when they go under. I TRUELY feel for the honest folks like FordTechOne and a coulple others. However, those people are SO DAMN RARE I suspect they will do fine working outside of Ford. I have personal friends who've left and are making same money or better with clearer consciences.

I'm currently looking at a sole proprietorship who specializes in German cars vs. Mercedes for the wife's car. Only reason I'm not there yet is the service staff I've delth with to date has not screwed us over yet... so far seem to be good people. So if you find one, cling to them knowing here today gone tomorrow if they are not able to turn a buck honestly. I miss business that started dying out in the 80s if not 70s. Your reputation was worth more than a dollar (because that ACTUALLY brought you more dollars with a lower advertisement budget).

Crap, sorry, old guy standing on a wooden crate again...

Plot twist , called a highly rated Aamco shop in my area. Head guy answered the phone and we talked about 10R80’s . He said they just rebuilt one for and 18’ f150 platinum and that the 150k milage interval for the trans is ridiculous. A new trans with fluid and relearn was 7k .

He said he would do the pan down service w/filter for 379 out the door.
