Hey freinds!!2011 raptor that sometimes gets hung in first with engine stuttering off and the first mile.ending stops stuttering and shift to 2nd then 3rd but no more.sometimes stays in 3rd and will sometimes shift back down when stopping.WTH?

most common would be the lead frame.. if it hasn been replaced with the updated version, lots of stuff can happen. second, would be the wiring harness that goes to the transmission. third, check your transmission fluid level. anything after that, @FordTechOne would know...... but he may be busy over at the toyota forum

It could be a base engine performance issue; that will cause it to stay in lower gears due to the lack of power. I would start by with a visual inspection of the engine and harnesses and then pull DTCs.

Of course aamco says I need a new transmission
They just said that or did they actually diagnose it? These transmissions are fully serviceable, I would question why they can’t repair it as opposed to full replacement, which will be a reman unit anyway.
