I need therapy!

How many of you spent the right money to upgrade the Sony system? Right now I’m looking at $3500 to do all speakers, subs and amp with DSP and all necessary equipment to clean the signals ect.

Debating on dumping $3500 in a 10 year old truck for sound.

If you made the commitment and pulled the trigger, chime in. I need hugs and a push! LOL

I did and i absolutely love it. Probably one of the best upgrades I've made since i get to use it every time i drive the truck. In my opinion, doing the whole thing is the only way to go. Spend the money and do it right. Also, make sure you are able to get it tuned by someone that knows what they're doing. I had @The Car Stereo Company come out and do mine and was well worth it.

One thing to note, look at what you are using to source your music. Having a high quality system but streaming low quality music didn't make sense to me. I grew up in the Napster/limewire days so i have a lot of downloaded music and these days i prefer to buy my music instead of renting it. Plus that gives me the option to convert them to high quality files, but just make sure you have the memory on your device to store the files. I had to upgrade my phone to more memory to get all my music on it.

Yeah, Competition Sounds is the only quote I’ve gotten that even remotely sounded like they knew what they were doing. They mentioned everything you just said about tuning and music choice. I love my Gen1 and spend allot of time in it. Allot has changed since I helped doing installs in the 90’s! I listen to every type of music and I have adult money now. I’m into quality and not bass competition.. At the same time I gotta be able to turn it down and act my age. LOL

GENX out

here, on frf
its a very basic setup the one issue you may have is the amplifier and powering 2 subwoofers. but if you are not going sq or spl, then its not a big deal. if just getting a little better sound is all you want, you should be good

The only hesitation I have is the Sync2. I hate to deal with losing any functions or dealing without. Haven’t read a good story yet about an upgrade. Dammit car play would be nice..

I know I can do the Sync3 unit with CarPlay but that’s $700 ish and still got an old feel to it. Is what it is…

Looking for clean mids and highs with niiiice base when I need it/want it. No need for the old 2/Fosgate 45’s and a power 1000 with 15’s.

I wish you were close man. I’ve read allot of your posts.
