Tire Decisions w/Fox Race Roush Suspension

Hello everyone, I have a 2017 Roush Raptor with the Fox 3.0 Race suspension system. I've been told that I may be able to run some 37's at full perch in the front and little to no other modification, but was curious if anyone is running this suspension with a 37x12.50R20 and the results. I do want to maintain the ride characteristics as much as possible.

I know that the stock 35" KO2 is technically 34.5" and several of the 37's out there (Toyo M/T, Nitto Ridge Grappler, KM3) are ~ 36.7", so it'd be roughly a 2" increase. I do understand the added weight concerns, but do have the Cobb Stage 1+ and will be upgrading the intercooler soon.


I also understand that the alternative is to go with a true 35 like the KM3 or some of the other hybrid options out there. I just really like the stance of the trucks that I've seen running 37's.

I won't be doing a ton of off-roading in this truck - some occasional sand in the Outer Banks and maybe some light trails when camping. I have no intention to take an $83K truck onto some hard core trails :)

Thanks in advance for any input. I did see Maga Truck on Instagram (2018 Roush Raptor) and he has indicated some minor trimming, but I've not been able to get any detailed specifics yet.

my only problem (personally) is the fact that the 37's weigh much more and they bog the truck down due to rotational mass. The larger rolling diameter will make your truck accelerate and decelerate slower.

Yes the 37's look great, but I won't be putting them on my raptor. I've had 3 tuned diesel trucks, 3/4 tons, on 37's and 38's. So I know from personal experience and not here-say.

Again, this is just my opinion. You do whatever you want to your truck.

Another thing to think about is clearance issues in the rear. I have 3.0's and with the factory tires I rub in the rear.

In fact, RomoLS on this forum tore a nice chunk of his wheel well off his new 19 truck! After that, I personally won't be going to 37's. It literally ripped off a nice chunk of aluminum body...

Just my little .2 cents

My wife thinks I only have 3 guns

I appreciate the input here. I just compiled a spreadsheet of some of the common tire options, which is limited when running 20" rims. I can say that my stock KO2's have been fine and no rubbing whatsoever. I like the look of 37's as I've mentioned, but am a bit concerned of the trade-offs. the gen 2s work just fine with 37s. You're gonna need to do some trimming if you arent replacing the bodywork.

I personally would not go 20s and 37s, especially if youre hitting the beach where there is soft sand. you will always be risking slipping a bead at low tire pressures and little bumps will suck at 30-40 psi.

Thanks for the response. It's too bad they don't make a KO2 37x12.50R20 as that might have done the trick.

Get rid of the 20”s...

I have 37x12.5x17 BFG ATs, Method wheels 8.5” with 0 offset, Fox 3.0 front and back, and Deaver +3s. Minor minor trimming, and no rubbing at all anywhere. Full lock, full compression, bump stops engaged, no rubbing. I take it in the dirt every month. Baja, Mojave, High Sierras, etc... I don’t jump it 30’ because it is also my daily, but I hit pretty hard.

Needless to say, 37” tires are the only way to go. The weight and size difference is not even worth noting. Grab some 17” wheels, slap some 37” tires on there, run it at 30-32 psi on all four corners, and GO!!!

Thanks for the awesome feedback. I had a bolt in one of the stock KO2 tires, so for now I went with the Ridge Grapplers. OTD for $1000 with a $700 trade-on on the old tires.
