Ive been using the MTZ's in 315/70/17 for 40000kms now. Here in Alberta we get harsh winters and some slick icy road conditions. So hopefully i can give you a better idea for your decision.
icy road traction: Not the best, BFG's did better. But i dont find them horrible.
noise: Not the quietest, but definitely way louder MT tires out there
mileage: After 40K im at 13/32's with heavy Hi-way and off-road and regular rotation
handling: Excellent, stiff sidewall provides positive feedback on hard cornering
balance: Perfect for me so far, just did regular balancing from experienced 4x4 shop
Overall i am happy with my Mickey Thompsons. They are holding up pretty good from abuse with minimal chunking and are tough, not worried about tearing or flats when off road. They look great and perform as advertised when it comes to deep snow, sand, hard packed dirt and mud. Again, not the best choice for slick road conditions. Stock did better or get a dedicated snow all-terrain tire.
I would buy Mickey's again, except this time i would try the Baja ATZ P3 in a 37". Between those or the Falken's. I decided a true mud terrain is overkill for my type of driving.
Good luck.
They were my pick because of weight. Advertised weight for the 315 was 68lbs and i never noticed a difference in acceleration from stock.
