Hey guys when I start my gen 2 all of a sudden I will get a tin can rattle upon starting and driving for usually the first 5 minutes. It sounds like there’s a marble inside of a tin can bouncing around. I’ve checked the heat shields but that hasn’t seemed to fix it. Any ideas?

probably need the wastegate spring mod..

mine was quite bad since i got it at 9K miles but i did this last year or something and its been nice and quiet ever since..

a very tinny rattle noise that suddenly disapears after a min or two of warmup..

I have the same problem on my gen 2 with 37k miles. Just curious, What and where are the heat shields you mention?

Cam Phaser ?

absolutly not, have you ever hear cam phase during five minutes, and it' s not at all the same noise...
No doubt it 's the waste gate rattle during warm up as said @downforce137
This sound is well known, you can avoid it with the spring, others say don't put the spring, so it's up to you...
