I moved in disgust one time when some pretentious jerk parked their bentley next to Lucille. When they got out I asked “You’re seriously going to park that clunker next to my truck?” They went right into walmart and didn’t even pause.

Sup everyone! So i recently purchased a 2020 Leadfoot and loving it so much, but I have yet taken it to work. I am a manager where I work and I am also new here. Been working here for little over a month now.

I would love to bring my truck to work but I feel like my workers would definitely change their attitude towards me. First off, I am not an ******* and I carry my weight around here pretty well. I get dirty with the rest of them. So I feel like I am making good head way with my team.

I just don't want to be that stigma of "OH! hes got raptor money, hes definitely making way more than us! so EFF him!" I have had bosses with really nice cars, but they also pulled their weight, so I never saw them like that. I am new to the manager world, so i would like some input.

Anyone else have this situation?

What kind of industry are you in? Because unless it’s automotive related, the majority of people don’t know the difference between a Raptor and a Ranger when they see them, to them, it’s just another truck.

The overwhelming majority of people are completely ignorant when it comes to cars/trucks. They would walk past a Bugatti Chiron without giving it a thought. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that our Raptors blend in to most people.

My wife is like that with trucks. Can't tell a Datsun B100 from a Dodge Beam Me Up Hellcat.....or so I thought. She wanted me to get a Shelby Mustang and would say "Why do you want another truck?". "You've had one for 15 years". Then she saw me looking at Raptors and said "Now that's a truck". "You can get one of those".

Brother, a few things:

First off, hats off to you for even being able to think on this level. Many would just gloss over it if it even entered their brain.

Secondly, some of the responses I've read here are blowing it out of proportion just as much as they accuse you of; let it all roll off your back and don't let it discourage you.

Thirdly, it takes a decent set of jewels to come into a public forum like this showing vulnerability and not playing keyboard commando - asking for advice on how your subordinates may view you.

I understand your concern but please realize, it wouldn't matter if it was a brand new Prius - people that have the mind set that you got a promotion and now have a new car and therefore must be rubbing it in my face you smug ****** are going to have that jealous perspective no matter what you do/have. You can't control everything least of all what/how people think so, while I understand your concern; let it go.

You worked hard to get here and assuming that what you said about what kind of manager/worker you are is legit; then by driving it into work, you could be inspiring your guys to do their best, make smart financial decisions, etc. I'm a firm believer of leading by example and I think you could drive it into work showing your guys what a good leader (not manager, there's a difference) looks like and what they are capable of as well.

This is all coming from a 12 year vet though so, what do I know.
