Well the manual states while the vehicle is moving. This probably has to do with static load vs dynamic loading. I'll bet it can hold that for sustained periods for a LOOOONG time, but as you're hitting bumps and undulations on the road, the dynamic loading can go WELL past 150lbs.

This isn’t raptor specific it’s short-bed specific & I’ve done this so many times w/ GM trucks & ive also done it a few times 100 mile round trip w/ raptor & quad in back w/ tailgate down no problem.

Also- food for thought- strapping a 150+ lb slab of concrete to the bed is a helluva Lot different than an ATV that is riding on fat AT tires & a Cushy suspension itself....didn’t think of that part did ya ;-)

Drive it on w/ majority of weight toward cab.

So for tomorrow’s trip, which is merely 85 miles each way to take an ATV safety course, 4 hours, sponsored by the manufacturers, they pay you $100 to take it, kinda seems like a scam, I know, lol, I’m using my trailer. I did order those steel bars from DG for next time. I do have to fashion something across the bed so I don’t crash into the rear window.

btw, the OEM add on ramps that attach to the side of bed, do those have to be ordered when truck new or can they be added?

You can order them after the fact but they are a bit more expensive than if you ordered them with your truck. Of course you can always search for someone not using theirs and see if they are willing to part with them and ship to you. I've used them to load motorcycles in the bed of my Raptor. They are are pretty legit.

You could put 2 2 X 12's for the full length of the bed, sticking out slightly shy of the end of the tail gate. Just leave room for your ramp ends. That would take a hell of a lot of the load off of the gate in put it in the bed.

Ty. Just found them from a ford dealer in Ohio on eBay for $599. I have a folding ramp I bought while ago to drive my snowblower up few steps to do a large deck but realized it would then be too big to take along wherever I go. I get them on the 21st.

Just be careful because some places sell only 1 ramp as opposed to the 2 ramps. When I was looking for them I had to keep an eye out because I would find one place that had them for cheaper but it ended up only being 1 ramp.

One ramp? Years back, too many to remember, when monster trucks were in their infancy, I went to MSG to see them. Part of the show was stunt drivers driving cars on only two wheels, and I don’t mean wheelies. I’ll have to learn. Lol

as I said, this is a ford dealer with excellent reviews and many who have bought them. If it’s one I will not be a happy camper.

but then again, when I was 16, in 1973, I attended Joe Namath’s football camp and I was a very unhappy camper. Lol.

Through the miracle of fast shipping, I received both the ramp kit and the DG product to increase the weight capacity of the tailgate.

In looking at the instructions for installing the ramps, it notes that if you have a spray in bedliner, which I do (factory), that the tailgate access panel must be changed to one that does not have the liner.

True? Why?
