SW Headers/Exhaust Drone

So I've been searching this forum and reading lots on the drone of the SW setup.

I have SW headers with cats, X-pipe and S-type mufflers and the drone is horrible between 1600-2100 rpm and that's where my truck sits at highway speed around these parts (90 kmph, 55mph) and when accelerating it's bad too. Hard to have a conversation.

Cruising below 1600rpm is decent and above 2100rpm sounds mint. But that is rare that I'm sitting in those ranges driving and this drone is killing me. Unreal how loud it is.

I might try to move out exhaust tips but they are far out already. I've read about different mufflers and sound matting on the back of cab but I couldn't find much for posts on the results of those modifications.

Anyone got other options that have worked that don't involve scrapping the exhaust and putting a new one in?

Did you dump your OEM resonator? If not , keep it and find one more, or get new ones and put them in line.

I had the full SW set on my first truck and the drone was terrible at the same rpm/speed. I added resonator tips and motorcycle baffles that reduced the drone from a 9 to a 6, still was somewhat annoying but much better than before.
There is a J tube that can be tuned to remove all the drone, takes some work but it is possible.

Yeah I was thinking of that and it was mentioned in a few threads as an option but I wasn't able to find anyone that did it that had posted the results. Would be interested to know how well it would work.

Thanks Hockster. That's some good information in that thread. I saw the Helmholtz 1/4 wave chamber mentioned on this site but this link has great info and links to more threads about it. This look like a good option if I have the room underneath. There's no custom shop in my town but I know a few good welders that could make something up for me.
