I know that you can physically mount the tire to the rim without the beauty ring however; I don't know if its a good idea to operate the vehicle like that. There is a possibility that the beauty ring provides some structural integrity to the wheel at the outer edge. Loads can be very high on the outer wheel edge (hence the point of beadlocks).
