I am currently deployed and have a few extra bucks saved up for some modifications. i already have a custom bumper being made by Jimmy at WSi but want some opinions from others on what else i should get... i have around $1k-$1300 to spend and would like input from other experienced members on here... i know this is my truck and i can do what i want yadda yadda yadda but im interested to see what others have done.

My driving consists of mainly driving to and from base (12 miles) and going on RDC raptor runs which has so far not consisted of a lot of high speed or jumps of any sort. since its my DD i dont plan on doing too much crazy off road driving but i do enjoy going off road with the group and would like to try the sand dunes out eventually at pismo.

ideas for mods:

A. 5 star tuner, mbrp turn down exhaust and asfir transmission skid plate ($1000)

B. Outlaw Alpha 1 bump stop kit ($1300)

C. M and R Roof mount 50" curved LED bar set up ($800)

D. any suggestions from the wonderful members of FRF

thank you in advance and cant wait to get back into the dirt!

Sticking with the theme of ur wants and options:

- Tuners are questionable rather they're wise do to warranty complications, if that matters.

- I'd go with the mbrp turndown as mentioned or any other turndown. A turndown is a must.

- Upon evaluation of different skid plates I choose Hefty Fabworks over ASFIR and a few other manufactures; some because of their inferior quality, others due to the lack of professionalism of the sellers.

- Icon is making a similar but superior bump stop, when compared to Outlaws, IMO.

- I'm holding out on curved bars to see an in depth comparison between manufactures.

Is everything else currently stock? Or do you have other aftermarket parts that you may not have listed other than WSI bumper.

You need to base any mods on what you plan on doing and what you are doing now.
I cant see a reason for a bump stop if you are not hitting things at high speed.
Exhaust is nice helps pull some underhood heat out with less restriction.
Tuner, no way baby. I will never tune a PCM, coming from doing strategies for Ford. The dealer knows if you have tuned it no matter if you remove it and return it to stock. Now if you have people that work at the dealership and will not say anything them feel free to tune. The only way I would add a tune is to buy a new PCM and keys, have it matched to the vehicle and tune it keeping your original incase something happens.

For me the greatest mod was the new 3.0 shocks. tehy made the truck feel so much better. I know you dont have the cash but its soemthing to think about.

I have seen the stock bumpstops work decently out on two runs so far. They may not be suitable for jumping or intense offroad driving. Which is why I agree with Hockster, as far as I've read the aftermarket bumpstop is for more aggressive driving.

Since it is a daily driver and your budget is 1300$ maximum I would:

Paint the stock wheels (to a different color)
Wrap the hood (matte black)
Add an intake (more rumble :) )
Add hood mounted lights (Rigid Industries)
Stubby Antennae(I have the bullet casing)

Also....make sure to check out the Garage board here, I have heard of some crazy deals found on here that would save you so much.

-- Just a few ideas for you to have fun with.

good point sonoma, i currently have an NFAB front bumper with a custom skid plate that goes all the way underneath, method NV's wrapped in 35x12.5 toyo M/T's, SDHQ front camber bolt plates and thats it...

thanks for the input guys and gals keep em coming! as of right now im thinking of going the AUX light bar, MBRP turn down exhaust and skid plate protection...

As far as running an intake, please correct me if im wrong but isnt it reccommended to run a tune specifically for your intake on our trucks?
