Looking through all the threads, I can't find anything that will work to replace the factory sub. I hate having it under the seat. I have 2 bird dogs and the back seat will be their home when hunting.

I wanted to put something behind the seat like what was in my Super Duty, but there is no room.

I found a console-style box:

I think that and a JL 8W3v3 would be what I'm looking at. That way I can still get both dogs in there and have more of a separator instead of a full box.

Anyone else run a rear console-style box like this??

here, on frf
we are in the process of building a box with an amp for under the 1/3 section of the seat. once this is completed we plan to build one for the crewcabs. so far we have gotten a jl 8w3 with the xd300/1 for the scab that should be completed by this weekend. the crewcab is going to be a complete build, but i think we can have a solution in the next 2 - 3 weeks

just so you know the 8w3 is leaps and bounds better than the oem sony woofer. it is the same woofer that they use in their microbox.

i forgot to mention, it looks like we might be able to fit a single 12in there as well, if you want to have a different location for your amplifier.

My goal this year is to finally do the stereo work on my Scab. I hate the box under the seat as well. I'm going to build custom boxes for each of the scab doors that will take a 10" each, which should solve the problem. I will lose the pockets in the suicide doors, but that's acceptable.

Thanks for the response. Your installs looks top notch. If I wasn't carrying my dogs back there, I would have already opted for one of your full boxes under the seat with 10's or 12's.

When hauling them around this past weekend, I just took the factory sub out and honestly the stereo didn't sound that much different. Realistically, I would just like to have something to replace the factory crap sub and in the process open up a bit more room.

I like the idea of subs in the doors, ducatisps. That sounds like an awesome option!

The only other thought I've had, and maybe someone could help with the details, is to build a box that went under the entire rear seat and had a piano-style hinge with another platform that could fold out making it a flat surface when the seats were folded up... kind of like the storage fold out in the full-size trucks.
