Just after getting my new 2012 screw I installed the cravens speed stubby antenna. Just recently I've noticed that the radio goes from sounding very crisp to kinda muffled & it shows it acquiring on and off constantly. Now I can't find my stock antenna to do a comparison. Anyone else have this problem? :emotions122:

Yeap. I kept it on there since I like how it looks and I usually listen to either my own music or Satellite but I have been less than impressed with the reception.

I am still amazed when I read these posts of people saying it gets great reception. That is not my experience.

it has to do with the height of the antenna and the ground plane. a standard vehicle antenna is 31 inches because it is 1/4 of a wavelength.when you go to a smaller antenna it has to be in certain heights to maintain the wavelength/height ratio. also if the antenna is too short your ground plane is off and will cause signl loss

I heard you can take a stock antenna and cut it down & it will work just as good. How much you can cut it down I don't really know. As soon as I find my stock antenna I will do a test and clip it down a little at a time. I will post the results later.
