This past weekend I was staying near Carson City Nevada. On Saturday I took the Off road bypass from Dayton To Fort Churchill Sate Park. This road was pretty flat and had some speed limits. The park was a nice spot to picnic and sight see. I asked a ranger about any off roading nearby. He said if you cross over highway 95A near Buckland Station, there was an area called Carson River Ranches. There was a wide plane with several trails, where I was able to pen up the Raptor over 85 mph and holding steady 60 -70 mph. I had a blast there, but kind of held back because I was going solo, and I was not familiar with the trails in the area.

On Sunday I drove from Carson City up the off road trail to Spooner Summit. Most of this trail was pretty straight forward. However, several places half way up went from dry to wet, with brush only 4 to 5 feet wide, water and several huge boulders and dips. I was tempted to turn back, but realized the road was too narrow on the face of he cliffs to try that I had no room to do so. One spot I got out because the trail was only about 6 in wider than the width of the Raptor and the side was a sheer drop.
My opinion of this drive was nice followed by some quite scary. I was very impressed by how the Raptor handled it. The branches on the trail probably have added some "patina" to he molten orange finish. I will not find out until I wash her tomorrow.

PS I tried to attach photos, but had no luck!

Picture from pass going up to Spooner Lake. It this point the trail was wide open and the view was spectacular. Once I got into the heavier rocks and trees, the last thing I was thinking about was my camera.

The day before was more timid, a nice trail out to fort Churchill, then a picnic. We made a quick stop in Virginia City. After that I went out to the dry lake bed and unfortunately I had so much fun. I took no pictures.

Post script....This week I got my first oil change, service and had a Rhino Liner applied. My friend who owns the ford Dealership also had his body shop polish out all of the scratches in the clear coat. The scratches in the fenders can be tended to, but I plan on doing more off roading, so why bother?
